Wow thanks Filadog. That is a bunch of good information. The tuyer was indeed right there at the pan. I am very much used to a deeper fire box in a forge.

This one had a neat ash dump cast with the blower housing. It was positioned so that ash and clinkers would fall in a separate chamber which could be cleaned out by opening a swinging plate.
