thoughts about more than one pistol

i dont think one would need more than one pistol, unless he or she expected to lose one or had different caliber ammo.or, in a specialty matter a flare gun, but, firing a gun would have the same effect, both to attract attention and be rescued, and to bring in a horde of zombies. no dual wielding either, unless you're good enough to aim two pistols in opposite directions and hit the targets you are aiming for... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. "i dont think one would need more than one pistol, unless he or she expected to lose one or had different caliber ammo.Good call on dual weilding. Too many COD warriors will die trying. While I'm only planning on carrying one handgun, I can maybe see why somebody would carry two. A small .22 snubbie or derringer may be good as a last resort, such as when a zombie jumps at you when you're out of ammo, or when your larger handgun isn't readily available. Of course, it may also be useful in offing yourself if you're bitten. Do you find this valuable? |

"Good call on dual weilding. Too many COD warriors will die trying.acknowledging the bitten part... what about suicide bomings in zombie world? it'd be an effective sacrifice if a bitten person marched into a horde but, not ethical.. even in chaos, i dont think strapping a bomb to yourself is the solution Do you find this valuable? |

"acknowledging the bitten part... what about suicide bomings in zombie world?I think many parts of ethics must be thrown out the window after Zday. We'll all probably have to do things that we don't want to. Also, no offense, but I don't know how to make a bomb, so I'm not going to try... Do you find this valuable? |

"I think many parts of ethics must be thrown out the window after Zday. We'll all probably have to do things that we don't want to.if you think simple.. its easy. now, i dont build anything of the type, only experimented on workability once or twice so i know. i wont tell you how exactly, but theres two basic homemade: fuse, and electrical. the fuse type only requires an explosive and a fuse or something to begin a flame.. etc. etc. to detonate. think dynamite. then, the other type, involves wires and batteries and thats all i think i should say.. hell, i shouldnt even be saying anything lol Do you find this valuable? |

"i dont think one would need more than one pistol, unless he or she expected to lose one or had different caliber ammo.Dual wielding. My usual response is "You are not John ******* Woo." But carrying two identical handguns has a few practical applications. For example, in the middle of a fight, is it quicker to clear a complex jam, or draw the backup gun? They use the same ammo, have the same parts (so two damaged guns can sometimes be used to make one functional gun) and use the same caliber bullets. Do you find this valuable? |

"i dont think one would need more than one pistol, unless he or she expected to lose one or had different caliber ammo.I would keep different pistols only because I feel most comfortable with them (full-auto SMG's fit me well too, but outside of the range they're hard to come by) and I think having multiple calibers increased the odds of finding suitable ammo. And as for dual-wielding, one that I would consider is the Beretta 92FS. If I was backed up against a wall, or engaging covered targets or vehicles, the low recoil could be controllable for the gain in firepower. Still, certainly not a first choice, but possible under the right circumstances with the right weapons. Do you find this valuable? |

"i dont think one would need more than one pistol, unless he or she expected to lose one or had different caliber ammo.I agree on no dual wielding unless your name is Master Chief or Lara Croft. Having 2 or so different calibers would be usefull though. But still i'm just planning on using either my(dad's) .357 revolver or .357 semi auto. Do you find this valuable? |

I plan on carrying quite a few handguns, why? I'm better with them, and their light in both ammo and gun. I don't plan on dual wielding, dumb idea, most trained professionals can't do it and score head shots, it divides your focus as well. I actually don't plan on fighting much either, call me a coward, but I'll save the heroics for those who feel they need to prove themselves. I'll help someone in need, but won't go looking for people to help, nor will I engage anything right away, I'd rather flee, only eliminating what I have too.

I dissagree. I think it would be wise to carry multiple pistols because the days of walking into a store and buying a box of .357 hydrashoks are gone. Whatever ammo you can find needs to be put to good use post zday, not to mentions pistols are small and light, making carrying 3-4 on you or in your bag not very cumbersome. As much as I hate .9mm I will try to get my hands on one, because it's likely I will run into some .9mm on my journeys.

The only time dual wielding would have any use is for "supressing fire" against zeds, in the form of two (very light) machine pistols. It might buy some time, but not much else.Keep on as a backup (like Pedro said) but it's only more weight. Do you find this valuable? |

It might not be a bad idea to own two handguns. You could own a .357mag revolver and a 9mm pistol and have two handguns that fire 3 different very common rounds. .357mag, .38spl and 9mm. Ruger makes a single action revolver that can fire all three by changing out the .357 cylinder and replacing it with a special 9mm cylinder. They also have one that converts from .45 long colt to .45ACP. Do you find this valuable? |

I own 4 handguns. I have a 9mm, .40 cal, and a .45 to cover the common calibers. So if I can find any ammo for those three calibers I will have a platform to use it with. Then I have my .41 mag hand cannon, which is loud, mean and nasty but it makes my .45 look like a sissy.

My dad's not big on handguns, but we own a few. And i'm not legal to buy/own a handgun in Ilinois so im stuck with what we have. The only handguns we have is a S&W .357 mag revolver, uhm some company i never heard of(Grizzly or something) .357 semi auto with 3 10 round magizines, and a..S&W? .44 mag. revolver so my options are pretty limited. But thank god we have enough .38 special and .357 mag shells to fight a small war. lol. And thats just handguns. So hopefully we wont have to rely(cant spell) on finding ammo. I recently saw in Sportsman's guide a pack of six chamber inserts that changed .45 LC to .22So, Timber, if you take that Ruger with the interchangable cylinders, and a .357 revolver, you can fire 5 different calibers out of 2 guns. Do you find this valuable? |

I would carry 2 for the same reason I carry 2 at work or 2 walking around in the mall (concealed of course) When 1 goes down I transition to my second. I also usually 2 glocks of the same caliber or 2 1911s just depending on time of the year it is and how long I’ll be away from home. Even when I’m doing the run and gun thing I have my primary weapon (rifle) my secondary (pistol) and a BUG on me somewhere. When I pick which weapons I’m going to use I pick ones that take the same mags. This allows me to switch out mags from larger pistols into smaller ones but use the same mags I am already carrying. So If I’m packing a 40 I can switch from a glock 35 to a 27 and the big 15 rounders fit in the smaller 27. I also only carry the same caliber weapon with whatever weapons I use so I can also cross deck ammo if I need to. Yeah, yeah I know but I swear I’m not paranoid just….. careful.

Carrying more handguns makes sense for one simple reason......you can arm people you find along the way and thus cover your back better! For yourself you'd be best off to wear 2 guns that use the same mags and keep the odd ones in your pack to hand out to survivors. Do you find this valuable? |
