  • cities im from the country so i know what i'll do on that day. i can't be sure what to do if i lived in the city. the best thing i can think of is to be prepared before it happens. keep enough food/water on hand to survive a couple weeks. once things begin to settle down, you may be able to move about with so much chaos. there will be more zombies, but not as many panic stricken people. the will all be dead because of zombies or themselves. plan ahead before it all goes down. lock yourself in somewhere and ride it out for awhile. then leave the city. always be ready to run at a seconds notice

  • The Walking Dead? Deputy Grimes is very lucky. He has been lucky since the time he was shot. Now everyone has an idea why everyone should stay away from major cities or one may end up losing more than just a horse.

This pic is so cool! ... LOL

  • Dead Frontier Do any of you guys play dead frontier?

For those who don't know, dead frontier is a massively multiplayer zed shooter. It uses a top-down perspective in combat.
Shooting is not the unique part of this game, but rather how you have to survive in the virtual city. You must loot bodies, vehicles, furniture to obtain vital supplies. Hunger is an active concern for your character, and you must keep them fed, or your health will decay and you will die.
Food and medicine of better quality must be obtained as your character gains higher levels.

Fairview itself is massive, with multi story buildings, crashed cars, police barricades, and is divided into 5 districts. Each district has its own "market" where players within can purchase various equipment from each other. There is an entire in-game economy built around this. However, the districts cannot inter-trade. The outpost you start in is on the far left of the screen, where the right side would be "Death Row" the most dangerous district but containing the most lucrative loot.

Barricading has been implemented, and with sufficient wood and nails, you can catch a breath from the ravenous undead. When a building is cleared out, you can establish a player outpost, with the ability to trade with other outposts in the district and store currency.

You can carry 3 weapons, a piece of armor on your person and others in a 14 item inventory (expanded every 10 levels) Every time you level up, you have points that can be used for player stats and weapon proficiency. Stats effect your character's running, ability to carry heavy equipment, accuracy and other things. These decay when your player is injured. Proficiency points go toward categories of weapons; you require a certain degree of proficiency to use specific weapons.

There is a massive variety of weapons, I believe 96 so far, from pen knives to grenade launchers.

  • The Dead Wars Im making a book and its called the dead wars. Heres the concept: Three friends who enjoy guns, their trucks, and music never even dreamed about what would happen one normal day at school in their World History class. As zombies begin to invade their little town, they make a desperate stretch for survival. As they raid small stores to make a living, days begin to pass and the longer they live the harder they fight.

  • undead to dead to alive ratio Most estimates of the Black Plague put fatalities between 30-40%. That is for a disease with a high rate of death among those infected (over 80% from the least deadly contractions).

Even with the dead staying dead and the disease being spread slowly across Europe over several years, it was enough to create more than a few panics.

So, factors like vector (bite only? air born? insect bite?), incubation period, and the speed of the living would all matter. Also, attrition among the infected - how many they destroy though eating who would otherwise arise.

Also, disease spreads faster through cities, even when the vector is a zombie bite. Out in the country, we get fewer communicable diseases (and more firearms - particularly firearms in the hands of people who shoot them often).

Population will tend to flow out from the cities in any pandemic, and I think population is a better guide than infection %. If your area triples in population, a 50% outbreak is worse than a 95% outbreak before.

More bullets than neighbors is starting to sound like a starting point.

  • Apartments in the city The real problem with apartments is that they are full of people. If you rolled up on an empty apartment building, you could likely go for some time, but when TSHTF, that building is going to be full of people:

    1) Packing away everything you would ever want to scrounge.
    2) Keeping you from barricading them in (fear of being trapped is strong in frightened people)
    3) Keep you from tearing the place apart (I know it is illogical, but many will be unable to break from existing mindsets)
    4) Consuming your consumables
    5) Making other unwise decisions that you have no control over (since no one will listen to you, you are just another tenant to them)

As for fire, it is your worst enemy. City - unchecked it will destroy everything, though that will take days, so unless it starts next door, there will be warning. Country - a crop killer, forest killer, and house killer.

You should always have at least two means of escape from any place you stay.

  • Last of a dead breed Okay, this looks like fun.

I'd find a city or town somewhere that still had power (if such a place happened to include a nearby amusement park or something, I would consider it a bonus) and I'd set up house there. I'd find a nice defensible building, just in case there are still Zeds around somewhere, and fortify it to the best of my ability.

Then I'd go around collecting all the awesome guns and vehicles and other military gear that the dead Mall Ninjas (or anyone else for that matter) left behind to better improve my fortifications. I'd use baseball stadiums, parks and any other open areas to plant as much food as I figured I'd need, as I'm sure I would be able to find seeds and so forth that somebody had stockpiled before they died.

Then once I had secured safety, food, water, etc, I'd alternate spending my days at the amusement park and blowing stuff up to watch the fireworks. If I happened to come across any woman who felt an obligation to try to repopulate the human race, I'd offer to help, even if I did think our efforts would be futile, just because I'm a nice guy like that.

There's lots of places I'd like to visit, but I can't fly a plane, and I don't think thats something I'd wanna try to teach myself by trial and error.

BTW, I also like the idea of repainting the whitehouse (or any other government buildings) but instead of camo I might just use garish tacky colors, sprinkled with cuss words and obscene things about anybody who used to work there that I didn't like.

  • Your Living Dead Have you checked out the new webseries online for free YourLivingDead? It is made all out of pocket and has no commercials or corporate influence. The first webisode released was SLAM, but now that is not available to watch. Most people get frustrated because it is hard to follow, has a lot of information, keeps tying in valuable information but then when another webisode is released one of the other key ones that has a clue has been taken down again!
The 2 webisode is Bombs Away and that one is playing right now. It’s pretty cool because of the special effects and makeup. Even though no one is sponsoring this production, the quality is the best I have seen for a webseries, especially in the zombie genre.
The 3 webisode is As the train goes by, and after I keep seeing the next one, I think that one is my favorite, but I can’t say that, because I’ve seen them all & it leaves me wanting more. This one is a little longer than the others, which is really good.
Then As The City Burns was released. Now we definitely can’t watch that one, because it was accepted at the Cannes Film Festival. It’s not allowed any viewing. So that’s not available at all.
“The Rise of Slicer Part 1” came out, but it was only available via the Facebook connection where a username and password was created. Right now, I can’t even find the members only part on the website. Where did it go!
Then “The Broken Man” was released, which answered the very interesting question of who was the woman talking to on the other line of “Slam” but that doesn’t do anyone any good right now, because if you haven’t seen Slam yet, then at this time I am writing this post, you are not going to, because once again, it’s unavailable!
Then “Pill Popper” was just released. This is the best acting ever – just a really believable actor. The whole webseries always has the same feel, which is cool, until this one…which shows how versatile this production really is.

  • The Walking Dead Facepalms. (SPOILERS)
"Herschel was hinting at this when he was talking to Rick about God. he was talking about them finding a cure, things blowing over and how this was a way of thinning the population. He also said to let his people handle the walkers on the farm I think. Point is hes not thinking clearly and he doesn't want people around who are. "
I think Herschel is thinking clearly. In fact, everything was ok until the group came along and started doing things without permission. The farm\ranch still belongs to Herschel and family, and the group should respect that. Yes, Glenn does not need to ask Herschel to bang Maggie in the barn but he should have talked to Maggie about it before hand especially when he found the barn locked up. Stupid city boy does not understand, barns are not normally locked and boarded up. Herschel is using his belief in God and patriotism in his country to come up with a cure which was already stated so no spoilers. You will find out who makes up most of his zombie community.

One other thing, I think Glenn would have smelled decay long before he was in the barn. Decaying particles have a way permeating the air. Maybe not as bad as a skunk but more so than other smells.

Also remember, Herchel's thinking is different from us in which everything has a great ending. America and other countries have proven this many times over the years. In addition, this world has no clue what zombies are and especially Herschel. My grandparents would probably think the same way he does until some action changed their minds.

As for me, no way any zombie would be dead alive on my property regardless of a chance for a cure or not. It is too risky.

  • Dead Frontier (Zombie Survival MMO) Yeah...I didn't see it posted here and its a pretty fun game...

Its a top down...shooter. The game at least.
Theres a forum that acts like a marketplace where you can chat and trade your loots that you find while in the city. You don't exactly run around with a bunch of other people as in other MMOs, instead you choose to leave the outpost and can then either choose to solo or join a party or make one and such to go into the city with. Its pretty fun :D. Theres a pretty wide selection of weapons, its not just guns there are PLENTY of melee weapons, you get from bats and fire pokers, knives to rocket launchers, assault rifles, flamethrowers(i think). Melee weapons also tend to be more popular as guns tend to attract ALOT of attention. You get swarmed hard as hell when usin em so you better have plenty ammo.

I also neglected to mention there are several types of zombies, from skinny ones that're fast as hell which take like 1 to 2 hits from a good wep to kill and fatasses that take 5-7 hits to kill then theres some crazy freakin super zombie **** that take long as hell to kill and move pretty fast.

  • Timeline Of The Living Dead...And Just Living Okay so I was talking (kinda) to Smallprint and an idea formed in my head about timelines. The order in which things can happen before and after The Panic.

So here I am giving you My Thoughts on the timeline. I'm using a terrorist attack as the prime cause. The virus has a long incubation period but is infectious within a week of infection.

Ye Olde Normul Wurld: We're living it. Things are working more or less like they should.

The Beginning: New York, Tokyo, DC, London, and Paris are all visited by people who are simply going about their business. They are business men who travel overseas as a part of their work. They through various covert means were infected by the Zombie Disease and are unaware that they are spreading it. Business as usual continues.

Buildup: People begin getting sick with flu-like symptoms. Hospitals begin getting more patients than usual. The public is worried but not overly so.

Buildup Stage 2: The first deaths start to occur restricted primarily to the weak and elderly. Reports of attacks by unknown assailents are bandied about on news stations and people begin showing up in emergency rooms with bite marks.

The Announcment: The governments tell citizens not to panic as more and more attacks occur in every state in the country and abroad.

    The Panic: http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/The+Panic

Danger Period: At this point the primary panic has died down. The majority of rioters are dead or holed up elsewhere. Essential goods are nowhere to be found due to the panic moving them into more defendable areas.
At this time idiot raiders, badly prepped survivors, and pockets of military and police forces are holed up as well. Many survivors leave the large cities for the isolated woodlands only to be picked off by zombies and the aformentioned other guys.

  • Life After all the Zombies are dead
"it gets better. Trust me, you'll love high school.. and if you dont, stand up for yourself.
    "
Oh hey... I hadn't realised you were still in school. Like Soviet says, hang in there. My years 7-10 (that's age 11-14ish) in school were severely crappy too. After that, most of the bellends dropped out to go live in caravans and smoke dope or work in the supermarket and mod up their cars. Those who were left were mostly the ones who'd grown up in the meantime. I became really good friends both with a bunch of smart, funny people, some of whom had bullied me in the past, and some who I'd bullied in turn.

Being a dick in school is kind of expected but after a certain point people realise it's not necessary.

    But anyway...drifting off topic.

One thing I would do: alter roadsigns.

    _______SPEED KILLS_________
But they're already dead so floor it!

    ...that kind of thing.
