Would you be able to handle the gore?
I think I would be able to handle it nausea-wise. I've watched observed surgery before and it didn't bother me. Things like the Saw films bother me because thats torture, which is different to blood and guts.
Im ok with other peoples guts and wounds, just not a fan of my own. I lost a chunk of flesh from my elbow once and started to go into shock (or so i was told). I managed to calm myself down with a whiskey though :)
The worst injury i've seen on another person is when me and my brother drove past an incident that had just happened, and we stopped to see if we could help. Some dick had just had an argument with his gf so deliberately ran out in front of a car in a suicide attempt, denting the bonnet with his head. He was concious, but barely, and he looked like he had a cracked skull by the way he was gushing blood from a thin line on his forehead. His gf was some chav slut who still managed to find it in her to argue with him, whilst we waited for the ambulance, after all that We waited until the ambulance got there and then left, I've no idea what happened to him, i hope he left that ***** though... Sorry bit of a ramble lol...

How To Identify And Handle People Who Would Take Advantage Of You
There's a lot of situations and circumstances that we survivors will have to deal with once the undead are free roaming around the earth in populations rivaling ancient buffalo herds. Aside from hoards of your former friends, relatives, and coworkers trying to eat you you're also going to eventually have to deal with an aggressive or outright violent and hostile survivor or group of survivors.
While there is always the last option of shooting to defend yourself/your party, what other ways of dealing with this situation?
My plan would be to either get them out of my BOL or bug in place immediately. Obviously this would put me at a great disadvantage because now they know my safe location and depending on the severity of the situation that knowledge may require my party and I to move elsewhere.
But if I were to be forced to travel on the road, looking for the best for my party day by day, I would, if I could continue traveling in the opposite direction. Increased accidental contact with a group of people who we know to be hostile really is, IMO asking for a ****-ton of trouble.
I'm curious, how would everyone else plan to handle this situation?

Your choice of car
While yes, the El Camino is a car as it is just a chopped up Chevelle, but hell no. 600 horsepower in a pickup that couldn't handle to begin with. You'd wrap that thign around a tree in a heartbeat. And with pickups you do need to have straps for tightening everything down, or it'll likely get lifted out of the bed when you're at speed.

Armored Smar Car?
The only advice I can give you is to sell the "Smart" car and buy a used vehicle that can actually handle modifications.

Using cars for power
Okay here's my plan for simple power after Z-day. Cars are every where and have plenty of uses other than driving. (note you will need some basic mechanic skills like knowing how to turn a wrench) Remove the following to make a basic lighting system for your BOL.
the battery the alternator the head light bulbs and the wire that's connected (also turn signal/brake light will work)
Hook up the alternator to the battery to recharge and store power. Make a handle to put on the pulley of the alternator to make turning easier.(a stick and duct-tape will work great) Then simply hook up the lights to the battery when you need light. More safe than candles. You can get creative will multiple lights and use a wall switch but it's pretty simple and if you need to leave in a rush its easy to replace. Cars will be everywhere.

Cars: Take or Trash
Take I guess, though they're far from cars. This thread was meant for smaller vehicles, since it's kind of obvious that most intelligent people aren't going to pass on a free M35 or Hummer. And you don't necessarily have to rely on one vehicle. If you move in a convoy, you could keep a car for one purpose and a truck for another. And define "rough roads" because if car tires can withstand Philly's streets, I don't think there's any terrain that the car's ground clearance would allow for that the tires couldn't handle. And if you're driving and drive straight into a horde you deserve your fate, sorry.
Again, Porsche 911 GT3 RS

what to carry in your car
A couple of suggestions:
Throw a few quarts or a five-quart jug of your car's oil. Just in case you get a bad seal or you damage your pan on debris, you can fix it or patch it and refill the motor enough to stop it detonating right away.
If you have the room, chuck the factory supplied scissor lift or piston jack and get an aluminum, low profile jack. Most allow you to pull the jack handle out so it stores flat, and with a real jack you can get the car up safely, and far faster than with one of the little emergency ones you get with the car.

Carrying more with your car
Weld a trailer hitch on it and get a small cargo trailer ( 5'Wx6'Lx5'T ), or what ever your car will handle. I have a 20'Lx8'Wx7'T I use with my 18' cube truck. Which gives me almost the same cargo space as a semi.

home made armored cars
"I like the way you are thinking, but a few things to point out.
Welding dissimilar metals is difficult., Brazing the metals would be easier, however you would still need specialized fillers and fluxes.
Skip the Recessed camera idea, if that camera breaks then you'll be blind. And stay away from the v8's and stick with v6's. and the winch should be at least 3 tons.
welding additional metal to the frame would be mistake. Welding additional metal would be an engineering nightmare and if the heat effected zone becomes too large then you risk the integrity of the frame. Frames are overbuilt as is." well i know welding disimilar metals is difficult.. i was thinking welding aluminium brackets around the frame as opposed to it., i dont think the V6 could handle the extra ****, and i like the camera, but it would be prone to faliure, waht an alternitve when your windsheild is 1/4 aluminum plate? the winch, 3 tons, perfect, and welding to the fram isnt that difficult, ive reenforced frames on pickups and cars alike, its a matter of cutting out the patt ern of the frame from end to end, then traceing that onto a big sheet of steel, then cutting that out with a handheld plasma cutter, or an oxy-fuel torch. after that, its just lap welding with a stick or mig welder... i hate tig, but it does a good job. Also, a way to reduce the heat affected zone is to have a large fan blowing right on where your working 1.) gets the fumes out of your lungs 2.) cools down the area around where your working, reducing heat fatige 3.) after you done welding, you want to let it air cool, because if you douse it in water, it crystilizes the weld, basicly making it a lot more weak than it should be.... and by fan, i mean one of the high power industrial ones, not a ****** walmart thing.

or you could scratch the word"empty" on the side of the car. Just saying. I have had way worse words scratched in the paint of my vehicles by pissed of ex girlfriends and if those whores can do it, we should be able to handle it.
