Additional Content
It's up to you really. I suppose you could do "misfitzseat3's ULTIMATE survival plan" as a seperate page....
or add "additional content".
As long as we get the info without having to click 300 links, then all is good!

Misfitzseat3, I just looked up Lorton, and it seems to be undergoing demolition. Any ideas on that?

your weapons
your chioce for rifle is good but you should look into a ruger 556 its pretty much the same thing but about 500 dollars less, and the silenced pistol is nice but if your already close enough to the zombie to use the pistol and you want to be quite then you should just use your machete, as for a pistol i would opt for a glock 17L which has a 6in canted barrel which makes it much more accurate, and for a silenced weapon a ruger 10/22 with and intergral surpressor would be excellent, its relativaly light weight and will give you much better range when you want to be quite about shooting a zombie, but its all in what your looking for but you should check out the ruger 556 for sure its the same thing for alot less money
sorry everybody i thought i was leaving a comment and started a thead instead by accident because im new. it wont happen again my appologies, zach

Sounds like a sound plan
There is only three things I wonder.
1. Why are you going to fortify your home, load it with supplies, and then leave on fot (leaving most of it behind)
2. You are obviously planning on, atleast starting the survival alone. How will you sleep att nights? I'm not sure what the barn is made of, but it looks like wood to me, Assuming zombies are bashing the wall with all their strenth, it can't take "that" long to make a hole.
3. You mentioned cultivating plants, The barn doesn't have a flat roof, nor can you grow any large amounts of food indoors. (Lamps could work, but I assume your solar cells are small portable versions, that can't really support a large "field".

Concerns
Just a few Comment/Concerns
1.I don't think its reasonable to think that anyone will be willing to go unarmed with a bunch of walking cannibalistic corpses on the prowl. you just have to accept that anyone near your barn is going to be armed. you just need to learn to recognize the right people. 2. no one will submit to bite inspection unless you do it tactfully I.E having a member of their own sex perform the exam in a private area. make sure to explain to them the necessity of it. 3.even with the exam I would institute a quarantine period of a few hours for new arrivals and any one who returns after encountering the undead. this will be necessary to ensure group safety. the quarantine area should obviously be separate from the main area AND quarantined individuals should be kept separate to ensure there is minimal risk of cross-contamination (don't lock the sick and healthy people in the same room) 4.I would dispense with the contract except when it comes to your equipment and supplies because imposing your will on people used to democracy will only spread contempt for you in the long run. Supplies should be controlled with an iron fist, but leadership should fall to whomever the group feels is most fit. 5.revolvers, although very reliable are impossible to silence, and in the situation of a prolonged siege noise must be kept at a minimum. you should include some form of ranged silenced weaponry for long term defence unless you want to attract unwanted attention from both unsavory people and the undead. Otherwise good plan

a lot to think about
I've been trying to come up with my own plan, but its going to take a bit of time, I agree with most of the things in this plan but as for the water (turn on all the water in the upstairs bathrooms...)
For emergency situations (like to keep at your barn maybe) you could fill emptied milk cartons with water ahead of time. You just have to put either iodine drops or 5-7 drops of chlorine (bleach will do) in it. Some bleach containers actually have directions for this. Or you could buy sterilized water...whatever works. The clorinated water should stay good for 6-12 months, this way, if you have a bunch of safe water in different locations (house, barn, on the way to the barn, whatever) you should have enough water to last for a while. Just a thought.

MMA Gloves
MMA gloves would be alright, but they still cause a persons hands to become clumsy. in theory the idea of that kind of hand protection would be good but it leaves you to believe yourself that much safer. with MMA gloves on it's more difficult to grapple and grab awkward things such as rubble or a makeshift weapon in that moment of need against a zombie.
i do MMA with a group of friends and i have seen first hand (fist?) what gloves do to a persons coordination. in a fight your strikes are erratic enough, but once a person puts gloves on it's more like firing a weapon on fully automatic than single fire. no strikes go exactly where you want it to go.
and to reflect of john 234's comment, palm strikes are a very good idea being that a palm strike to the base of the nose if done properly will break the bridge of the nose and send it back into the brain, most likely causing death to a zombie.
and also misfitzseat3, the idea of adding studs to the gloves by cutting them open is just a bad idea. no question about it. your trying to kill a zombie, not a person. if your trying to kill a person your much better off learning how to strike nerve clusters and tight muscle groups properly rather than mutilate your gloves in order to provide more striking power.
