  • Zedshots Survival Plan - With Graphics - Input and Questionare Well I have finally completed my plan. I used google sketchup to draw the buildings and the compound, couldn't use real pictures as you can understand.

Please take a look and provide additional input and questions so I can either add to the current plan or modify it to make it better.

    http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Zedshot%27s+Survival+Plan+.

As always if you are looking for refuge within our compound you are more than welcome in the case of a Z- Day Pandemic.

Have a Nice Day and Thanks again.

  • A couple of C.O's Plan This is a survival plan that a several coworkers and I have put together. We all work at a small correctional center, our plan is to fortify the very jail in which we work in. It's already stated in our S.O.P that in the case of a pandemec or emergency on a national scale that we are to evacuate and release all occupants. Now I believe that the first zombies would quite possibly (due to lack of knowledge in the beginning) be arrested for battery and assault, those sorts of crimes. Of course if that is the case then the jail would be full of them after a while. Of course people will flock to public service centers for information, some of these unlucky people would meet there demise at the hands of a zed.

My Coworkers and I have set up a randevous point at a house not far from the jail, it is owned by one of our commanders. At the set of an outbreak our vehicles would already be loaded down with equipment and supplies needed to survive the initial few weeks of an onslaught. At this house we will lay low until some of the frenzy has died down and most of the population has either abandoned the city or turned into zeds, roughly a day or two. Before we leave everyone will be given a nutritious breakfast and ample water. We will get into our vehicles and drive to the a hill that sets behind the jail. From the commanders house to the jail, too avoid the cluttered roadways, it would be an all off road drive for about a mile.

We are not worried about going off road because all of our vehicles are built to go off road. The hill that was previously mentioned overlooks the jail, from the crest of the hill to the jail is roughly 500 yards, it is an unobstructed view and provides a visual of the entire encompassing area around the jail.

  • Panic Uses
"You shouldn't be preparing during the panic.

If you think you'll need something, get it NOW."
Amen to that Brother 2WS. Let's face it - if you're trying to pull together years worth of training and preparation into the last few hours of the z-pocalypse, you're well on your way to munching the flesh of fellow human types... Start preparing NOW. This can be done with a simple trip to the local Red Cross or community college and enrolling in a First Aid program. Might come in handy... Or, learn a martial art - it's fun, gets you into shape and could give you the edge in a hand-to-hand self defense encounter. If you're of age, consider taking a hunter education course and start hunting. It can be done relatively inexpensively if you're thrifty... Or, visit your local library and start reading about survival, then applying what you learn. Build a lean-to or an A-frame shelter...

And, for anyone who hasn't done this - complete a bug out bag!

  • Which one of these guns you think i should choose? I own a 1903 Springfield, it has been bastardiazed to hell, but i love it anyway. The pic is on my profile. That being said, if money is an issue i would think the 1903 would be the cheapest to buy you can usually pick one upf or around 350$ in my neck of the woods.

What do you plan on using the firearm for, SHTF only or would you like to hunt also?

  • Austin,Burnet,Copperas Cove,Ft.Hood,Central Texas Religion is important, it gives people hope. Right now even most people that claim not to have religion do, they believe in the modern world. They have faith that it will take care of them, they'll still have a job tomorrow, science will find a cure for cancer, etc. Its where their hope comes from. That's what religion is about gaining hope from a power bigger than yourself. So to say no religion allowed will hurt more than help as in the end of the world the modern world will have failed them, they'll have to get their hope from somewhere else. Without hope you can't live, you can survive, but you can't live. I plan on living through and after the end of the world (unless its the Christain end, in which case I will not live through it but be better off anyway). What we're talking about isn't really the end of the world anyway, its the end of the world "as we know it". To build a new world you have to have hope from somewhere, even if its just your group leader.

  • How would you destroy my compound.
"More important why would anyone want to go to the trouble to destroy your compound?
What is in there to make it worth while?

You have I think you said 17 people and enough food for "weeks if not months" and hope to find more to bring in.
No realistic plan to grow any more, and hoping to catch livestock and deer to turn loose inside isn't really much of an animal husbandlry plan.

I think after a few months your worry will be not people trying to get in but rather trying to get out

    "
I may not have clarified, and we havnt really made up a concrete idea on how we are to provide food for ouselves assuming we all survive. Basic plan is to grow crops within the compound and perhaps outside of it, I dont have any knowledge on how much we would have to grow to sustain us. Hoping to catch livestock was an idea, however we also believe it to be a very slip chance, the livestock would have separate pens outside of the main compound, if I didnt make it clear. They wouldnt be roaming within the compound but perhaps pens set up outside the compound within a easily defendable position.

Food is in my opinion our greatest concern, I know little about what it takes to grow and yeild a succesful crop. However their is one person in our group that does, but then again he hasnt had to grow a crop to sustain a large party like ours.

We dont know why any one would want to destroy the compound, however that isnt a sufficient reason for us not to prepare for it. About the only thing I can think of that is worth while is perhaps the security of a good nights sleep. But preparing for the worst is better than not preparing for it at all in my opinion

What do you suggest we do, because we have been working on this one for quite a while.

  • We might not have trolls....
"The problem we face right now is the base of knowledge is being forgotten,
the " HOW TO" do things with out technology.
Ask a kid to run a quadratic equation and he can, AS LONG as he has a computer or calculator, Take those away and hand them a pencil and paper, and they cannot do it."
But why is knowing how to do without valuable? Is there a reason? Why must one learn all the ways it WAS done in addition to how it's done NOW?

You learn to use the tools needed for your task. It pays more to learn to use a computer than other not-so-common ways.

Sorry but it seems like planning your knowlege base around an event that may or may not happen is a waste. In a survival sense sure since the older ways were less complex iin terms of equipment needed.

But IT? Tech Support? No purpose.

  • Calling All Ninjas!.... Now that I've got your attention I'd like to suggest something that isn't that popular here for some reason.

What is so wrong with having a person specializing in melee in your group? I think having a "ninja" as part of your group would be a plus. Whats wrong with having someone with a variety of melee weapons on hand who isn't afraid to use them? If they aren't asking you to grab a sword and stand beside them I don't see where it would be a problem.

What role would they play? They'd make good scouts IMO. Send them ahead without the fear of them getting trigger happy or over-confident, making bad decissions because they believe thier gun will get them out of danger.

I also see them moving ahead of a group taking out single zombies quietly while making little noise.

No there isn't a melee designated swordsman in a modern military unit but this isn't the military its survival and someone who isn't afraid to travel without a firearm and has the skills to do so shouldn't be discouraged IMO.
