Common misconceptions with explosives.
There has been a bit more activity in the "goes boom" category, so it seems like maybe some of the basics should be explained. To possibly (not likely) avoid some of the discrediting; I was EOD3(SW) in the Navy. I left after 6 1/2 years due to serious injury. This actually does make me an explosives expert of sorts. I don't know everything about every single explosive in existence, but I know a great deal, and in depth. I will not give out recipes, nor detailed disarming techniques. I don't think anybody who is even slightly responsible should do it either. That said, here are some of the most common misconceptions about explosives as I see them.
-1) I can make that.
No, you probably can't. I probably can't either. Most military grade explosives are created in extremely controlled conditions, with chemical compounds, and techniques that aren't available to the home builder. You can find a recipe for something that claims to be the same, but it just isn't. The most common of these are napalm, and C4. Folks, you just can't make either of them, only sticky burning agents, or a compound that will sweat nitro, and likely become unstable. Reactives are different, and can likely be replicated at home, but again... an unreliable internet recipe is definitely not the way to go, and likely will not be worth the consequences of a bad mix.
Some make home made fireworks. This is different. Those recipes have been refined over centuries, and are usually black powder, flash powder, and a few other reliable, and relatively stable compounds. I still don't recommend it unless you have someone experienced teaching you, but hey... they aren't my fingers, so....

Explosives vs zed.
How would various explosive weapons far against zombies?
My two cents: 1. Claymores. Essentially the mine form of buckshot. Since it relies on fragmentation, results could vary from catastrophic to squat depending on type of zed. 2.Landmines. Might take off legs, which could hamper someone pretty badly. 3.Weaponized demolition. Basically you drop a building on someone. I don't see anyone getting up from THAT. Anything else I missed?

Any good melee weapons I can make with stuff around the house?
I am in Canada so I cant get guns (that I know of) So when Z-day comes around I am stuck with Bats and knives. If you can tell me what are good melee weapons I can make around the house or if I can make something that fires shots? It would be great help! thanks!

Explosive arrows?
A friend of mine sent me a link to what essentially turns an aluminum arrow shaft into a mid to long range explosive, knowing my fascination with methods for destroying the undead. Anyone every heard of such a thing?

Something overlooked
How about disposable butane lighters?
If you have a magnesium fire starter, and a smidge of petroleum jelly... Well I shall let you do the math

Explosives are risky.
A word of warning. unless you know what your`re doing, or have incredibly specific directions, I would not advise using explosive of the homemade variety. and, even if you get some professionally assembled ones, improper ly setting the timers, detonators, or other detonating device , could kill you. generally, if you really need some, your best bet is to make a Molotov cocktail, and stick in some gun powder, or a ground up sparkler, with some rubbing alcohol. i seriously think that if your REALLY ready to risk blowing your hand of, ask privately, or GTFO.

Petrol bomb Vrs. Grease bomb
Petrol bomb
pros makes a nice fiery type of incendiary explosion
pretty easy to get hold of
more watery so is more easier make it more compact cons goes bad after a while
better spent using to power your car/truck
distinctive smell so harder to keep concealed and use as a surprise style explosion
Grease bomb pros sticks to things better
can be gained in high quantities much more cheaply
cant be put out with water just makes it worse
you could actually produce grease without complicated machines
very little to know smell cons not as powerful
harder to put in small containers
can actually accidentally stick to you and set you on fire
less flammable and harder to set of
the point I'm trying to get through is what of these when used as a bomb is more better Grease or petrol, or does it depend on the situation and what your target is? express your views freely but with careful thought i don't want a bunch of dumb answers i want to know what your opinion is but make it informative please and for the general good.

Simple Napalm Recipe
Take your wife's scented bathroom candles (the kind that come in a jar) and gently set them into a pan of boiling water. When the wax melts, pluck out the wicks, and then start adding sawdust to each of the candles until you have a 1-1 ratio of wax and saw dust

Using a cooking timer to initiate an explosion
its been proven to work you have to attach a metal wire somewere but i dont exactly know were its supposed to send an electric shock and the metal supposed to carry it then watever explosive device the metal wire is touching or attached to is supposed to either explode or go on fire?

Thermite
Thermite can, as confirmed by the mythbusters, be combined with ice (or water i suppose) in order to create an kind of explosion.
It is thought this happens because as the molten iron hits the ice/water it splits it into hydrogen and oxygen while simultaneously igniting this explosive mixture. The result is a small, not very firey explosion that will launch the molten metal into the air.

Mr Picky says ...
Soory to come over all negative and such, but ....
Example 1: a) Main point: a group of fellow survivors, struggling to hold onto life in this apocalypse, steal some of your stuff. Or at least, some of them did. You think. Not too cool, but your response is a teensy, eensy weensy but over the top: without investigating things or checking out their story, without making sure you are right, or how many are involved, you decide to retaliate by murdering every mother loving one of them, man woman and child. You stone cold murdering son of a *****. b) This plans seems to depend on a group of survivalists, in a hostile situation, leaving their base and supplies totally unguarded. They may be distracted by your diversion, but totally abandon their base? I wouldn't count on it. c) according to your timeline, you are going to enter an unknown facility, collect supplies whose exact location is previously unknown, place dozens of devices throughout the facility, and exit (booty in hand) all in the space of 60 seconds. One word, dude: no frickin' way. Oh wait, that's two words ...

adding oxidizers to your exsplosive devise
i recently bought a book called anarchist cook book 2050 forbiden knoledge its a big book about exsplosives boobytraps homade weapons ........... but the part that intersested me was it has three and four page explanations on how to make your boom alot bigger and one was oxidizers i found one thing for liquid exsplosives like gas bombs ext it was for every gallon of exsplosive one cup of bleach and one cup of brake fluid mixed well then poured into gas within two hours of use. i tested this with a 1/4th gallon of gas and 1/4 cup of bleach and brake fluid and it nearly tripled the exsplosion of a normal 1/4th gallon of gas and yes i realize ilegal dangerous ........................ and if your interested in the book i got mine from amazon oh and dont get it confused with the old one made in the70's this one is like 700 pages of mayhem

Nitroglycerin
I was looking up Nitrostat as a medicine and come to find out it is Nitroglycerin... Nitroglycerine is an explosive obviously and it seems easy to manufacture from what I have read. I just don't know how exactly to manufacture it safely.. My dad is on Nitro and it would be good to know how to make in a pinch..

plan for eliminating zombies
step one- plant a remote controlled bomb in a open space
step two-spead out petrol (eithor poured or in holders) step three-this bit is risky. you can send out a small group to attract zombies (there needs to be alot) have them run into a prepped house and lock the door step four-set off the device killing zombies and setting the rest on fire the ones on fire will stumble about burning others. what we acheived-a load of dead zombies
