Rockabilly Zombie Weekend Airsoft Event: Ocala, FL
For any airsofters in the Central or North Florida area, there's a new zombie airsoft event that's occurring in Ocala on May 25th! And it's based on a movie I did!
Rockabilly Zombie Weekend is an independent feature film set and filmed entirely in Central Florida and cast and crewed entirely by Floridians. It tells the story of Grant and Becky, two star-crossed redneck lovers out in the sticks who are set to get married while dealing with the drama plaguing their families. Only the wedding never goes through: the government hands a crop duster an experimental mosquito repellent to combat the West Nile outbreak, which turns out to actually mutate the virus and turn the mosquitoes into carriers for a zombie virus. The hordes of flesh-eating freaks crash the wedding, forcing Grant and Becky to gather their friends and family and try to escape.
It's not a comedy; it's a serious film in terms of tone, and has plenty of violence and gore. Mindgame Productions, a southeast mil-sim airsoft group whose ranks include a number of military and police vets, played national guard soldiers in the film's finale and are putting on an airsoft game based on the movie.
MGP ran a zombie game last year, 28 Months Later, and this game is quite similar in content and tone (there's a video available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohODHmKARRs and at least one other on Youtube). However, the missions have been tweaked to fit the film's events. And to cap it all off, everyone gets free admission to a drive-in showing of the film ($5 for non-players) across the street at 8:00 PM after the games end!

The Impossible
New Movie coming out that seems right up my alley. Well, so long as it isn't over dramatized.
The Impossible - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1649419/
It looks to be a drama about a family that survives a tsunami.Hoping there's more how they did it instead of touchy feely. .

New indie Zombie Game - Zombie Colony! (Help Wanted)
I know the zed wiki isn't really a place to use as personal advertising space, but I recently got saddled with a heck of a project.
Zombie Colony is quite simply, the zombie game that lot of ZSDW members have wanted to build for several years now. A survival-based, multiplayer FPS with strategy elements. But we're pretty short on actual people to make models for HL2, maps and such, so if anybody could lend a hand or reference us a good animator / modeler or source of free stuff, it'd help immeasurably.
Of course, you can also comment about the good and bad aspects of the idea here, as I post updates on the concept.

Zombie Colony
Zombie Colony is an upcoming, multiplayer FPS zombie survival title built on the Half-Life 2: Deathmatch engine and code. While still in pre-alpha-stages, the basic concept and gameplay has been fleshed out enough to post the concept publicly. Mod

ZSDW, the movie!
First off, before anybody asks, no, we're not actually making a movie.
However, this comes from an idea I thought about on the IRC. Let's say that, by some miracle, we were able to film a ZSDW movie. If that were to happen, what famous actors/actresses would you want to play all yer favorite ZSDW regulars? I know this is random and useless, but it seems like fun.
For example, for Drewblet I've always seen Ben Stein. For Carnack, Kevin Smith. For MD, R. Lee Ermey. Who else can y'all think of?

Bruce Campbell Stole My Idea!
Hey, guys. If y'all remember, a while back I had an idea for an ensemble zombie film, where you got together all the best zombie actors and made a movie out of it.
Well, Bruce Campbell pretty much stole that idea. http://screenrant.com/bruce-campbell-horror-movie-the-expendables-benm-77295/
Although it's not a zombie, it's a horror film, so that's close enough.
What do y'all think? (P.S. I realize this goes under the Movie Section, but it will get more views if I put it here.)

Theatrical Premiere for 'COLIN' the $75 Zombie Horror Sensation
Walking Shadows LLC announces that the surprise hit of the Cannes Film Festival, “Colin,” a British zombie movie, which cost just $75 (£45) to make, will make its Theatrical Premiere at the 13th Floor Haunted House in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, September 23, 2010 - before moving to theaters nationwide in September and October.
“Colin” is a new take on the traditional zombie film genre, telling the tale through the eyes of the zombie, played by 29-year-old Alastair Kirton.
Filmmaker Marc Price made headlines around the world when his DIY movie gained critical acclaim for being a fresh voice in a well-worn genre and was hailed as “redefining no-budget film-making.”
Price is thrilled that US audiences will now get to see his movie, after news of the film was featured on US television networks including CNN, ABC, and CBS – before finding a U.S. distributor.
Price made COLIN for around $75 in cash – spent mostly on a crowbar – and tea and cookies for the zombies. He relied on friends and Facebook to cast his legion of undead extras. It took over 18 months and buckets of determination for Price to make the movie on a 10-year-old camcorder that broke during the shoot.
“If our film does anything, hopefully it will make some 14-year old who wishes to make a movie, say ‘Oh, it’s entirely possible, because my mobile phone has a better resolution than this guy’s camcorder.’ I am excited by the idea of people watching my cheap little film and thinking ‘If this guy can do it, then so can I.’”
At time of press, COLIN has also booked the following playdates:
Sept 24-30 Facets Cinematheque Chicago IL Oct 1-2 The Guild Cinema Albuquerque, NM Oct 4-10 Film Action Oregon Portland, OR Oct 15-17 Telluride Horror Show Telluride, CO Oct 21 Spooky Movie Film Festival Washington, DC Oct 23 Knoxville Horror Film Festival Knoxville, TN Oct 30 The Showroom Asbury Park, NJ

Poll: Favorite Zombie Movie
Hello everyone! Just wondering what your favorite zombie flick is and why?
For me I have to go with any George A. Romero, but specifically the re-made Dawn of the Dead. I say that although it is highly unlikely that zombies would move with any speed at all, it scared the crap out of me when it came out and eventually got me into researching my fear of zombies and to where I am today!

Ensemble zombie film?
In light of the relative success of ensemble films recently (The Expendables, Valentine's Day, etc.) what do you think of the idea of a zombie ensemble film? Also, who would you have star in it?
Y'know, like show different people's lives during an outbreak or something.
Include: Bruce Campbell, Milla Jovovich, Scott Reiniger, Ken Foree, Ali Larter, Simon Pegg, Woody Harrelson, and...who else?

Top 10 Zombie Movies: Let's Make a List!
Going along with our recent top 10 weapon threads, why not make one of the top 10 zombie movies?
There isn't really a set list of criteria (i.e. a movies doesn't necessarily need stellar acting or a perfect story to be nominated.)
Any suggestions are welcome. I'd like to have submissions in by July 16th.
My prediction: Either Night or Dawn will win.

Zombieland 2 ideas.
I'm hearing rumors that a sequel to Zombieland is in the works and will be out by 2011.
So, if this is true, what do you want to see? What would you like to see that cast doing? Also, what celebrity cameo (if any) would you want to see?
Personally, I'd don't really care what the cast does. Maybe a plot point of Tallahasse dragging them to a twinkie factory. That could allow for plenty of funny moments (especially if Columbus accidentally blew it up or something.)
What I would like to see is a cameo by either Bruce Campbell or George A. Romero. They're probably the most famous names in zombie movies; therefore, it would be cool if the group somehow ran into them (who knows; maybe they run into a zombie movie fan along the way.) Failing that, seeing Max Brooks as a zombie would be cool.
Edit: I may need to move this to the Zombie Movies section. But, I figure it'll get more viewing in GD.

I found this on Stumbleupon. It's entertaining. The first 40 seconds of this video should be another entertaining reason to have a BOB ready.

Question.
This is just a random question about this movie.
In the beginning, when they're all in the woods, the blond girl (not Tracy) says "What was that?" and turns and looks into the woods. can you actually hear anything when you're watching. I couldn't hear it on my TV. thanks.

Favorite character?
In all the zombie movies, books, video games, etc. out there, who is you favorite character? Please state why.
For example. here's mine: Randy (Zombie Town): Even though the movie wasn't that good, Randy was one of the funniest, yet most badass characters ever. Shaun (Shaun of the Dead): Do I really need to explain? Fran (Dawn of the Dead): Started the trend of tough women in zombie films. Without her there'd be no Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, or Alice.

Andy Punches random people while they are eating
It's not really based on Zeds... but there is a Zombie Dance at the end.

Rate Romer's films in order.
Personally, I think Romero is a zombie movie genius, so I thought it might be cool to see what others think of his movies. Rate them in order of best to worst. Here's mine:
1.Dawn 2.Night. 3.Diary. 4.Day. 5.Land. One and two were no-brainers for me, but it was hard to pick the last ones.
