Animated Zombie Seriese
I am in the process of writing a zombie novel (which I will still finish.) While writing it though I came to the realization that it would be better suited as an animated series online. I have taken a few classes on 3D animation, but unfortunately I don't have access to the same software. I do a different program that is very nice though. I am still in the process of learning the new program, so production could be a ways off. I have already started work on scripting and storyboarding a pilot episode.
What I need are some people who can dedicate some of their time to the project with me. Specifically I am looking for any one who:
Would be interested in being a voice actor Would like to help animate Would like to work on concept art Would like to help create storyboards Would like to help with sound FX
I know there are more things I will need help with but I can't think of them right now. If you are interested in being involved with this project please post a message or private message me with your contact info and what you think you can contribute.
A little about the story so far and the direction I plan to take.
The story starts off with a guy and his two friends fighting their way through the apocalypse to get to his fiancee. They realize they can't survive on their own and take refuge with a traveling caravan of survivors. Issues arise and alienate the group. From there they start their own colony. I am really looking forward to this part the most, being able to explore how humanity could survive and what life would be like in an undead world. Throughout the series I really want to emphasize the struggles of humanity and how hard it could become to do the right thing.
Thank you for your time. I will work my hardest and keep anyone interested up to date with the progress.

Free Zombie FPS for iPad/Android
There is a new Free- 2- Play zombie FPS game coming out. But it's not console or pc it's for iPad! http://thedrowning.com/
They guys behind it all have console backgrounds so the graphics are nuts and the control system is based on the feel of counterstrike - but completely ground breaking interms of its mechanics.
Storyline: The game is called "The Drowning" and is set in an immersive 3D world and featuring a grim, suspenseful storyline. It is a revolutionary, episodic first-person shooter game, experienced through the eyes one of the few survivors of a mysterious global catastrophe. Fighting for survival in a world where unexplained oil spills have transformed millions into soulless creatures, players craft and upgrade a powerful and unique arsenal of weapons as they work together and alone to explore, survive and dominate.

My Island
My general idea of surviving involves an island in the Pacific Ocean. For obvious reasons I will not say the exact name of the island or location. This island is uninhabited but once was. It is quite large has lots of trees and animals. Not to mention fresh water. My plan is to round up my friends and sail or fly there, there is an island close to it with an airport. Although the island with an airport has a somewhat large population, around 2000 people, I doubt there will be many if any zombies due to its relation to the rest of the world. I have done extensive research about the area and it doesn't get many visitors, so that also backs up very few zombies. From the airport we will travel the 2 miles to the small docks near the city. Then take off for a 16 mile journey to the island. The island only has one downfall... it is somewhat mountainous, but I think my group can deal with its terrain. I live in San Diego so we are already used to mountains. San Diego is perfect for my island idea because there are many airports in my area and I live very close to the coast to boats would be an easy thing to acquire. Here is my list of things needed for survival on the island, keep in mind somethings are not necessarily needed but would be more of extra things for comfort: 5 Denali 115-Piece Home Repair Tool Kit
5 Black & Decker 9099KC 7.2-Volt Cordless Drill with Keyless Chuck 10 290-Piece Assortment Set - Organize Home and Workshop 5 Stanley 20-045 15-Inch Fat Max Hand Saw 5 Fiskars 7857 X15 23.5-Inch Chopping Axe 3 Wenzel Camp Grill 10 Cold Steel Latin Machete 20 J.A. Henckels 9-Inch Poly Sharpening Steel 4 Coleman 6-Person Instant Tent 5 Fi-Shock FW-00018D 250-Feet 17 Gauge Spool Aluminum Wire 3 Ames True Temper Eagle Garden Hoe With 47-Inch Fiberglass Handle 1859900 3 Ames True Temper Eagle Bow Rake With 53-Inch Fiberglass Handle 1888000 3 Fiskars 9668 Long Handle Digging Shovel Solar Panels

My Zombie Survival Plan
This is my means of Survival in a Zombie Apocalypse. Please comment and help me improve it for the Future.
Friends: I would go along with one friend "Jakob Brodie" because the more people the more supplies. If you have 2 people then atleast you have a backup and not too much food would be required. Maybe i could go in 3's and bring "Nic Gaulsaa" as then we would have more backup, Although taking more supplies to keep.
Food: Before i leave home i would take my fishing backpack and pack it with any canned foods i can handle and take my Fly Rod with some Flies. I live in a Coastal Region so i could catch some fish in fresh unpolluted waters. This will not be enough food to survive so i would also need to get more means of food because there are 2-3 people so i would try (If Safe) get to a Super Market or Service Station. We would bring hessian bags and pack as much food as possible into it. This would hopefully be enough food to last 2 weeks and by then we would have travelled to a new location to refresh supplies. At home i would also pack some form of a pan to cook on.
Fire: I would pack some of my flint and steels to light some fire and hopefully last long enough for me to get to the Fire Station (I am in the Rural Fire Service) to get a driptorch and be able to light quite big fires. There is plenty of wood near me because there is forests all around me.
Transport: I would leave my house in a car, There will hopefully be enough fuel to get my friends and make it to the Fire Station and get into the Category 9 Fire Vehicle (Ute). We would get some tools from the Fire Station along with a Drip Torch (said above) and Food (said above).
Weapons: Before leaving my house i would take a Knife and an Axe. The sharper the tool the less blood will get on me. This should suffice until i get to the Fire Station and get a RakeHoe and a Driptorch along with other small tools.

Easter Shore Maryland meet up location when out break happens
i think it would be a brilliant idea to get all survivors that know what there doing to get together and in a way colonize. bringing all guns, ammo, food, water, supplies to there and baracaid the place. and eventually making it impenetrable to any forces.
so what are your thoughts on this idea?

Martial Arts
What is your opinion regarding Martial Arts in a zombie apocalypse?
If you wear thick clothing, it can be very useful.....imagine a muay thai elbow to a decomposing head....
I've been training with material from a martial arts blog (taekwondousa.blogspot.com) and some mma lessons (mostly muay thai and bjj) and am ready to kick some ass on z-day!
maybe i'm too overconfident, but at least i'll have training lol
i want to learn boxing next and then Filipino knife fighting

Nope! Chuck Testa.
Ok, so this one's more of a joke than a serious thread, so that's why it has been (intentionally) posted in the hall of shame. But onto the more important issue:
The apocalypse has happened. I have survived. I have a pile of (completely) dead zombies. Will Chuck Testa taxedermise them for me?
Ps. don't ask about the tags. I don't know what I was doing.

Surviving and Living
Forgive me if this is disjointed. My brain is a little fried but still insistent.
There is a lot of talk of survival on this sight (in other news Water is wet) and what would be needed to do so but after some thought I feel that the preperations need to go a tad further.
I'm speaking of living. Of eaking out a small level of enjoyment from life in spite of the ya know world ending...thing. Survival is the goal of prolonging your existence but for many we need something to shoot for beyond the next day even if that goal is in the distant future.
So when will your transition from a survival mindset to one that enables actual living? Will you or will you simply keep the survival mindset and not allow for anything more?
We speak a lot on what we need to survive but what do we need to live? To enjoy our existence on some level?
What (if anything) do you want that could make living better?

Florida Group Meetup Zone
I Suggest we all meet at Downtown D-World, or Universal, Then, once we're all grouped up, decide where to go from then on. The reason why I chose these places was that, even though they are densely populated, everyone knows where they are, and as such, are easy to get to! Also, RSVP to lolzeeeeh@gmail.com, when I get there I will do roll call, if you aren't there, you will be assumed dead, or reanimated. I will specify a time for meetup when the first signs of the apocalypse appear, We will wait 2 Hours for everyone to show up, so bring your best guns, lots of gas/food/water, and your trigger finger, and lets survive! I look forward to seeing all of my fellow floridians there! I will reveal my plan when we get there, Everyone thats not hostile is invited!

Would your family make it?
So I joined this site 2 days ago and since then have been flashing back to my survival plan constantly. Well I began to think about my family. Some of us, myself included, don't live that close to them and going to rescue them would not prove ideal in most circumstances. For those of you with family or extended family in inconvenient locations...would they be able to survive the Panic without your expert knowledge on zed survival and defense?
In the case of my family, unfortunately, I am pretty positive they would be the appetizers.

7RI
The smallest state in the US, but yet the best to escape too. Rhode Island, my home, almost everyone on the water on the boat. Know how to use a boat and your all set. Go to the nearest harbor, and make a fleet. Supply ships, war ships, medical ships, and backups, and ect. I think someone in this area should make a group so that some people might live. I am not a mall ninja, im 14, can barely drive, and i do know the waters around RI.

The midwest - safest place to survive zombies?
I am going off of MachineGunGuy's post from today where he suggested that the desert might be the safest place. For obvious reasons mainly do to survivability in hard climates it would certainly not be the perefect spot by any means.
My response is the midwest, and here are some reasons why:
1) Flat ground - similar to some deserts, although deserts have more drastic elevation changes in them than the midwest does for sure. You can see for miles in most of the midwest.
2) Sustainability - known as the bread basket of the U.S. and is nearly all cultivated and irrigated.
3) Major cities - within traveling distance but not so close together like the east or west coast tends to have. This will provide needed areas to find supplies and raid when necessary.
4) Already very good locations to fall back to. If you have seen some of the farms out there you know they could be perfect. You could easily fortify a barn and series of buildings on a farm to keep zeds and raiders out and stay nice and safe inside all while living fairly well. Post yourself on top of a good size silo and you could see for amazing distances and with the right weapons take corrective actions at a distance where you would not need to worry about stinking rotting twice dead corpses. A barn can be sealed up fairly well and if you sleep on a loft in the barn you can pull up the ladder for added security.
5) Resourses - Let's hope that whatever infects the poor humans does not effect animals. If this is the case there are huge numbers of livestock all around. Keep a couple chickens for eggs, a goat or two for milk, and eat the rest. The ground is extremely fertile and you could grow crops easier than most other locations in the states (hence why it is already farmland). Irrigation is in place already to water crops and this could be utilized for growing your own, and also for your steady supply of fresh water.

Bugging In: the BROADER VIEW
Ladies, gentlemen, we're all familiar to some extent with the apocalypse, especially the viral pandemic direction, as this site is based on. Now, we can't say fairly that if you bug in and stay quiet that you'll survive. You have to make noise.. if you stub your toe you may yelp, and one slight noise (from our understanding of zombies) will attract them. My scenario/application of the coming idea is to be used for not necessarily a zombie pandemic, but a WROL situation (without rule of law)
that will happen in a zedpoc. we can't escape that. Now, because of mass media, if we see that the big cities are being overrun by zombies, what will we think!?!?!? I know what some of the lessers in society will think.
You will have both religious protesters screaming the end is nigh, you will have prison guards releasing prisoners because the guards are leaving for their families, you have gangs of various beliefs and such pillaging, you have looters, you have government roadblocks, you have pure anarchy.
This will also happen in the event of economic collapse in a country. When a system fails, for whatever reason, all hell breaks loose.
Now, whether you're a hardcore prepper, or just a kid wanting to be more, you can spread the mentality to band together in times of crisis. If you know your neighbors/neighborhood well, and when the time comes, ask for them to band together. Find anyone wih weapons, and they will be your opposition to the outside force. If supplies are available by all means fence in your area, but roadblocks are just as good. You will need a strong opposing force, regardless of whether zombies are around or not. Your fellow humans, on the outside, are even more dangerous. I'm talking about the gangs, the raiders, the corrupt and rogue military units having fun.

I just want a count of how many survivors may be in the state of VA
I don't want to go to my desired location with only the company I have in mind. So if you live in VA I would really appreciate knowing there are others who plan to be prepared. Possibly to join in the location I have in mind, as well as criticism on said location or other possibilities. I will not divulge anything specific unless I have people to divulge it to.

Scenario: Tree Fall
So you are alone in a 2 story house and you have only a desert eagle with low ammo and a Molotov cocktail. In a storm, a tree falls and makes a wall on the first floor. You run upstairs and barricade the door. All your food is on the first floor and the zombies are there. What do you do?
A. Go out and try to kill all the zombies in your house and barricade the hole in the wall. B. Stay upstairs and try to lure wild animals that are clean. C. Suicide D. Other

Getting back on your feet.
Alright, first of all. If there is a thread that discusses the same point, feel free to lock it (Not that my permission matters, hah.). Now on to the point of the thread:
I believe everyone on the ZSDW has either heard someone say it, or have said it themselves. What I'm referring to, is folks saying that they would just hand their stuff over to raiders because their life is more important than some random items.
I'm not arguing in the least bit, but I am curious and I am sure others are too.
What would you do afterwards?
How do you get back on your feet, if you have nothing?
Lets say that raiders come in, you don't attack and go with what they say. They then line everyone up, and start shooting.
You (And your girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/husband/kids if you have them. Just to be kind during this scenario, heh.) manage to run for it and escape.
The raiders don't bother tracking you down because you have no items but the clothes on your back, however how do you survive?
How do you keep from becoming infected, get food, survive the weather and other things such as that? Not to mention possibly coming into contact with other hostile beings, wild animals, humans, etc.
To those who wouldn't give up, feel free to post how you would get on your feet in this situation as well. Since I am sure if you fought and lost, they would line you up, if you managed to survive.
