Packable Solar Light
http://luminaid.gostorego.com/luminaid-solar-light.html
Folds down to roughly the size of a deck of cards, weighs 3 oz. and inflates to a pillow shape that is water resistant, has 2 switched settings. Runs inflated or folded up, has a 'biner strap for clipping to your pack. I just got a couple, but I saw one before I bought. Supposed to last 5000 charge/discharge cycles. 20 bucks. Pretty nifty!

biolite stoves
http://biolitestove.com/CampStove.html
this is some new survival tech that has come out. its not available to buy yet, i think they are a small operation and dont have the capital for mass production yet. but when it comes out im going to check out the user reviews to see how well it works.
im optimistic and skeptical about it. on one hand it could be a very useful piece of gear, on the other hand the guys in the video seem like liberal hippie dueschbags. either way, if it works well $130 bucks will get you some useful survival gear

Edit for this page
The section that I would like to edit is the one that currently reads:
Chain mail - Interlocking metal rings used to create a fabric of sorts. Used in shark suits and anti-cut gloves. Needs to be at least .14 gauge or it's just for show. Top notch protection against slashing, little to no protection against blunt force, and piercing protection depends on the rings themselves. If they are riveted on each ring the protection against stabs is pretty good, if not it's next to worthless. Weight starts to become a problem, most people could use chain with out conditioning, but only for short periods.
I would like to edit it to this: Chain mail - Interlocking metal rings used to create a fabric of sorts. Used in shark suits and anti-cut gloves. If the individual links are simply butted together then it needs to be at least 14 gauge or it's just for show. If the rings are individually riveted or welded closed then they can be made of substantially lighter gauges (actual medieval chain mail was often 17-18 gauge). Top notch protection against slashing, little to no protection against blunt force, and piercing protection depends on the rings themselves. If they are riveted or welded on each ring the protection against stabs is pretty good, if not it's next to worthless. Weight starts to become a problem for the mail with butted links, but again, welded or riveted links make the finished mail much lighter by virtue of using a thinner wire. Most people could use chain with out conditioning, but only for short periods.

armours ^.^
personally out of the above what whould you pick
Ironman
Varia Suit
or
Master Chiefs armour
ps personally i would pick the ironman or varia suit because they both have built in wepons but out of the two i would pick varia because it doesn't need ammo or power.

Medieval Armour
This page is intended to give a basic comparison of ancient armours and their usefulness in a post z-day environment. I will start with a brief overview of the common types, and later move into application in a post z-day world. I will stick to Euro

You're loaded down with your hand picked survival equipment, ready to go, but you realize your spare magazines are at the bottom of your backpack. Gear is to weapons and tools as tires are to cars. To effectively use any piece of equipment, you need

Armour
The best way to protect yourself from a zombie attack is to buy yourself a authentic set of Japanese Samurai Armour and Katana. Many companies sell these to consumers and movie sets. My personal favorite is made from Paul Chen from Hanwei armory. Battle ready Katanas are harder to find, but you can also find them on hanwei's website.
The ease of use of Japanese armour as well as intimidation factor of Samurai armor make it the perfect fit for the post Z world. For anyone who has never worn samurai armour, it is around 60 lbs, breath through, tight, and safe. It also gives you a great sense of security and moral. And lets be honest, a month or two after the world ends from the Z threat, who would not want to follow a leader who wears samurai armour?
