Quarantine?
I've been thinking. What are the odds of the military managing to effectively quarantine an area? I mean, I know that they can enforce roadblocks and travel restrictions, but It's obvious that they can't pull a 25ft high wall out of their arse. How would they enforce the surrounding area such as forests / hills etc.. ?

On Grammar
I'd just like to point out that the majority of people on the internet use "your" for "you're" and vice versa, and it's really starting to annoy.
Also, it's better to learn grammar and turn your grammar check off on microsoft word, because it will often advise you incorrectly.
Also, if you're wondering why it matters (which was addressed in the page to a satisfactory degree, I think), it's because people won't listen to your actual point if they beleive you to be less intelegent. It makes reading and understanding difficult as well as making you look steroetypical.
This page is very informative and well done. I congratulate its author.
Also, "its" means belonging to "it," while "it's" is a contraction meaning "it is."
Just my notes on the subject.

Added screenplay for I Am Legend
Added an attachment to this page. It is the screen play to I Am Legend, before Will Smith became involved. Very different from the movies or the book.
You can also download from here http://www.horrorlair.com/scripts/legend.txt

Other Books To Consider
Great list of Reference Material.
I would also recommend
The SAS Survival Guide: Similar to the U.S. Military one. Pocket versions available for cheap at local book stores.
Gray's Anatomy: The zombie horde will be comprised of people you used to love. Why not learn how they work?
I'm sure there are others. But these two have ben valuable to me.

post-apocalypse civilisation
i was thinking, i've started reading a book called afterlight (highly recommend it) and it's made me think is modern civilisation really so great? would you help to rebuild something like the civilisation that we know today? or would you prefer to have an out of the way village or settlement that is self-sufficient?
or perhaps another way?

Year Zero a book review
Year Zero
On Corfu, a wealthy artifact collector Nikos seeking the DNA of Jesus opens up a twenty-century-old artifact. He has unleashed Pandora's box containing an extinction event in the form of an airborne plague, last seen early in the first century. All die who come into contact with this particular disease. Nathan Lee Swift has fallen from grace in the field of archeology and is reduced to grave robbing in war zones. Incarcerated while the historical plague sweeps through the world, he crosses half the globe and ends at Los Alamos where a group of scientists are tasked with saving what is left of humanity. The shifting terrain is vibrantly portrayed, the religious fallout is deftly handled and the characters engage completely as they face a gruesome end to civilization in this dashing, exciting thriller.

Patient Zero
I picked this book up based on the back jacket “When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there's either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills... and there's nothing wrong with Joe Ledger's skills.”
It seems that there are more books in the series but not reading them did not effect the story line. It was a good take on zombie story. From the perspective of the front line fighter, for the government, that is actually trying to do something about the problem before it gets out of hand.
Joe Ledger is recruited by the DMS (Department of Military Sciences) to help stop terrorists that have bio weapon that creates man-made zombies. These zombies have a few different levels, some are traditional reanimated dead others are stronger, faster, and harder to kill. well worth the read

Memoirs of the Walking Dead:A story from the Zombies point of View
There is a new zombie book on sale on Amazon called Memoirs of the Walking Dead:A story from the Zombies Point of View. It's pretty different from any other zombie book I've read and it's really funny too. The guy that wrote it has a sick sense of humor :), but man what if zombies turned out to be like in his book? We would have to rethink the whole Zombie stratagey! Check out it's press release http://www.mmdnewswire.com/memoirs-of-the-walking-dead-by-jason-mckinney-22532.html

The Official Zombie Handbook (UK)
Most of the people here won't need this. Now, Max Brooks Zombie Survival Guide is obviously the most well known Zombie Survival Book Around- but for us here in the UK, it's not the most useful thing around, and I know there are some people here from the UK that this applies to.
Sean T Page has put in time and effort, and came up with this : The Official Zombie Handbook (UK) It contains a lot of information, pages crammed full of information, with a detailed evaluation of defences, including how the Police would respond when the zomibes rise, how the armed forces would fare when the police fall, and more. Furthermore, It has a lot of information on general survival, including a grid which clearly shows the lengths of time food can be kept for before it goes bad, which will of course be very useful for anyone stocking up on long-life foods.Plus, it evaluates weapons ( not firearms) with the DEAD rating, describes the different levels of a Zombie Outbreak ( Zed-con) and goes into a lot of detail on how to survive, including a 90 day survival plan. For Zombie Survivalists in the UK, this book is a must have, and is also useful for people outside the UK, because of its rich depth of information.
This is a must have for anyone intending to survive the Zombie Apocalypse, and, even if you live outside the UK, shouldn't be overlooked.
The Website (Ministry Of Zombies) is Here: http://www.ministryofzombies.com/page1.php
And it's here on Amazon.com @ http://www.amazon.com/Official-Zombie-Handbook-Ministry-Zombies/dp/0980799619/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1291748830&sr=8-1-spell

Yes, as a wannabe be writer.
Yes very informative page! ,
I am a wannabe writer and this has been very helpful.
I find that very few pages are dedicated simply to the task of enjoyment for the public domain therefore I am applying to be a writer(check out my progress on my profile) because I would like to put a few pages forward to make it fun and exciting!
I think we should make more Movie and book review pages on the reference section and some polls (etc) . Perhaps on community topics!
Writing should be enjoyable and this page puts forward helpful advice for wannabe writers .
Well done .
