  • Quarantine? I've been thinking. What are the odds of the military managing to effectively quarantine an area? I mean, I know that they can enforce roadblocks and travel restrictions, but It's obvious that they can't pull a 25ft high wall out of their arse. How would they enforce the surrounding area such as forests / hills etc.. ?

  • Other Books To Consider Great list of Reference Material.

    I would also recommend

The SAS Survival Guide: Similar to the U.S. Military one. Pocket versions available for cheap at local book stores.

Gray's Anatomy: The zombie horde will be comprised of people you used to love. Why not learn how they work?

I'm sure there are others. But these two have ben valuable to me.

  • An even better zombie alert sistem! This us a relatively simple trap that can be used without the thing activating it knowing. you will need two pieces of cardboard, , a light bulb, a C or D size battery, two pieces of crush-able foam, two foil squares, and insulated wire with bare copper ends, also you will need adhesive tape. tape the foil squares to the cardboard pieces, then tape the wire to the foil so that when pressure is applied the wires touch. hold the two pieces of cardboard apart by two pieces of crush-able foam. create the same circuit as the tripwire. When pressure is applied, the wire ends touch, completing the circuit, thus lighting the bulb and giving you a warning.

  • a more violent take on the warning tripwire This is the same set up as the warning tripwire, but without the entire circuit stuff (wires, light bulb, battery, foil) and only one clothespin, and cork and some fishing wire. You put the clothespin and cork under some wight and run the fishing wire or other strong "invisible" wire through the cork, and attach the other end of the "invisible" wire to a grenade, so that when someone pulls the wire, the grenade will be forced to move along the wire tied around it's middle to the point of disturbance. remember to also run the wire trough the pin of the grenade so that when the wire is pulled, the grenade moves to the point of disturbance and detonates. works best with 3-4 second delaying grenades.

  • great zombie warning alert (simple too!) This is A tripwire, but not a very violent one. it's purpose is to alert you to someone (or something's) presence. You will need two spring-loaded clothespins, two wine corks, Aluminum foil, Fishing line, C or D batteries, light bulb, insulated wire with bare copper ends, and Adhesive tape.
Wrap foil around the ends of the clothespins. Attach your wires with tape to those foil ends. one wire goes to the positive terminal, the other goes to the bottom of the Light bulb, then tape the side of the bottom of the light bulb to the negative battery terminal. Punt the wine corks between the ends of the Clothespins and run the fishing line through them and make sure they are secure. put the clothespins under a weight of some kind (only the cork should move when the line is puled.) When the Cork is pulled out, the jaws of the pin snap shut, toughing the foil ends together, completing the circuit and lighting the bulb to alert you.

  • Another thing about real :Zombies" This is slightly pertaining to that other guy's thing about the 1946 U.S> zombie virus thing on You-Tube. Weeks after WWII, German scientists were attempting to create some sort of a serum that would bring back their fallen troops to life, as to supply them with more forces. It took them only four months to actually create something with sort of the same effects that they were looking for. It was a serum, Unendilche Soldat ein Serum. they tested it over two hundred times, all with the same results. limited effects of sudden IQ drop, accompanied by loss of patches of skin and hair, then a short, thirty second burst of rage and enhanced durability. since this lasted for one minute at the most, the scientist created a new serum, whose name was never discovered. it's effects lasted longer, but was still terrible. it just caused the patients to be drowsy and unaware of their surroundings, much like the Zombi poison. one unique thing however, was that they couldn't speak. their neurons were so messed up it sounded like the zombies that we envision today. let's just say that it took two of the most top-secret special operations groups in history to destroy the evidence and make sure no one remembered. expect of course of r the U.S. government, which is how i came to know of this.

  • The Zombi poison In case anyone didn't know (everyone) there actually are such things as Zombies and they do exist in various part of the world, but not quite how you've envisioned them. The most popular case was in Jamaica when a man supposedly died and was buried, but was seen weeks later walking around a cemetery.this is due to something called Zombi. it is a poison, a collection of powerful drugs that causes the appearance of death, both psychically, mentally, and biologically. a victim is drugged and placed in a likely place of death, then buried and then dug up by the person who drugged them and sent to do whatever their new "master" has them do. the drugs also give the same effect as being really drunk, the victim can't feel too much pain and can survive up to 20 bullet shots without it's body registering the pain. technically the nerves are shut down. even losing a limb your body would die only from loss of blood, and nothing more. hell, they could have their head sliced clean off, and would remain unaffected for up to 90 seconds. now, you can believe me like you should, or not believe me, look it up on Google, an then be humiliated, or just be a jerk. either way, it's cool, and if that is what happens on Z-day, than the only way to actually kill them instantly, would be to inject them with about 1,000mg of speed or some other similar stimulating drug at 1000mg+.

  • Medical Survival Here is a list of resources for medical treatment because you will not likely have access to a doctor in a Zombie Day scenario.

Free Download of the book "where there is no doctor"
    http://www.hesperian.org/publications_download.php

This site has a wonderful blog for tactical medics.
    http://www.tacmedsolutions.com

Youtube has plenty of videos that are great resources for learning how to use medical supplies. It shouldn't replace proper instruction but it is better than nothing

Also this website has great resources for IPOD applications that are useful. assuming of course you can keep your ipod running post z day.

  • A must for any true survivalist I was shopping at a megachain bookstore this weekend and I came across a book titled Encyclpedia of Country Living it lists everything you would need to learn in a SHTF situation. I read it a little bit and it had a lot of information I had to learn the hard way. If you are serious about having the ability to rebuild this is a book you will need. I picked up that and a Home Depot book of home repair between the two of these books you will have the abilities to do most anything you need post apoc. Unfortunatly I do not have the firsthand knowedge that Timberrattler does as I have never been on a farm the information contained here would be an imense help to those of us lacking his skills.

  • Another Zombie Book So, I just picked up "U.S. Army Zombie Combat Skills" The illustrations are fun, but other than a few extra lines in the Warriors Creed and throwing various walking dead synonyms everywhere, it's basically just the Introduction to Warrior Skills FM. It's humorous if you've been through the training (I can picture Drill Sgt. Rainey yelling about application of zombie incident buddy aid.) Don't know if it was worth the 14 bucks, but it was fun anyway.
