My Island
My general idea of surviving involves an island in the Pacific Ocean. For obvious reasons I will not say the exact name of the island or location. This island is uninhabited but once was. It is quite large has lots of trees and animals. Not to mention fresh water. My plan is to round up my friends and sail or fly there, there is an island close to it with an airport. Although the island with an airport has a somewhat large population, around 2000 people, I doubt there will be many if any zombies due to its relation to the rest of the world. I have done extensive research about the area and it doesn't get many visitors, so that also backs up very few zombies. From the airport we will travel the 2 miles to the small docks near the city. Then take off for a 16 mile journey to the island. The island only has one downfall... it is somewhat mountainous, but I think my group can deal with its terrain. I live in San Diego so we are already used to mountains. San Diego is perfect for my island idea because there are many airports in my area and I live very close to the coast to boats would be an easy thing to acquire. Here is my list of things needed for survival on the island, keep in mind somethings are not necessarily needed but would be more of extra things for comfort: 5 Denali 115-Piece Home Repair Tool Kit
5 Black & Decker 9099KC 7.2-Volt Cordless Drill with Keyless Chuck 10 290-Piece Assortment Set - Organize Home and Workshop 5 Stanley 20-045 15-Inch Fat Max Hand Saw 5 Fiskars 7857 X15 23.5-Inch Chopping Axe 3 Wenzel Camp Grill 10 Cold Steel Latin Machete 20 J.A. Henckels 9-Inch Poly Sharpening Steel 4 Coleman 6-Person Instant Tent 5 Fi-Shock FW-00018D 250-Feet 17 Gauge Spool Aluminum Wire 3 Ames True Temper Eagle Garden Hoe With 47-Inch Fiberglass Handle 1859900 3 Ames True Temper Eagle Bow Rake With 53-Inch Fiberglass Handle 1888000 3 Fiskars 9668 Long Handle Digging Shovel Solar Panels

The Zeppelin
If zombies will eventually find you on land, then the next plan of action is to build a zeppelin, airship, or dirigible. This airship will be able to sustain a large number of people for a short time or a small number of people for a long time. It will have solar panels and wind turbines to produce electricity, have many levels for storage and living space, be filled with nonflammable helium, and will move using quite turbines. There may be a greenhouse on board for some farming but not huge scale. Eventually this plan involves island hopping in the Pacific, looking for supplies, and then eventually make a colony on Australia (If those mate aren't already dead). This plan requires MUCH planning and preproduction but could work. Many scientists and engineers would have to be involved but aside from that the plan could work well. Agree or disagree? If disagree then explain how it would fail.

7RI
The smallest state in the US, but yet the best to escape too. Rhode Island, my home, almost everyone on the water on the boat. Know how to use a boat and your all set. Go to the nearest harbor, and make a fleet. Supply ships, war ships, medical ships, and backups, and ect. I think someone in this area should make a group so that some people might live. I am not a mall ninja, im 14, can barely drive, and i do know the waters around RI.

I agree
You need roof access, which could also be your 2nd exit. 1 closet for 5 ppl? and where are you storing food and ammo and additional clothing, etc. etc.?
This looks more like a hunting shack, not something for 5 ppl to spend alot of time together in.. they need personal space also...

Criticism against the ZSG
There has probably been a lot of threads about the ZSG specifically, but I would like to know from this community why there is a substantial amount of criticism for it here. I'm neither defending the ZSG nor going against it. I would just like to hear a concise list of what people are actually upset about the guide here.
And, if you would, actually give reasons other then give sneeringly remarks like "it will get people killed" and such. Be more specific if you can.
Oh and, for some reason there's a LOT of tags attached. Dunno why :\

Erm......... let's have a think about this!
Survival plans, weapons & personnel, you've thought of it all!
You monitor the situation by radio, TV & internet, you're in control!
Now think of the drive home! The road is blocked by troops!
THE OUTBREAK IS LOCATED AROUND YOUR HOUSE!
This is the survival you should of planned for! NO equipment, NO following, NO head start.
What have you got NOW? Start from there, at the shops, school, work!
LOVE this site, let's have some REAL thought.

A grim option for those who can't survive in a post-apocolyptic world
That's it you've had it! You can't stand it any more! zombies moaning day in day out! There's only 1 way to stop the moaning...kill them all. This is it you're going to leave the safety of your fort and probably sacrifice your live to take out as many as you can and go out in a fiery blaze of glory! This is what to do if you snap and go on a reckless killing spree. This will show you how to put your insanity to good use and make sure you don't waste your martyrdom.
1)Load up with every weapon you can find. Even if you know it won't kill them use it anyway. Bring a stapler while you're at it! Who cares? You're insane! 2)Pack explosives. This part is the main event so to speak. Explosives are essential if you want to become a zombie. Can be as complex as military grade plastic explosives to something as simple as a Molotov cocktail. As long as it'll kill anything in close proximity it'll do. 3)Now you're ready to go on your murderous rampage. so go out and instead of running into the middle of them like a car bomber have them come to you and pick off as many as you can before being bitten. 4)You've been bitten and fallen to the ground! they're gnawing on your bones! This is where the explosives come in handy. The explosion goes off and everything in the area is decimated. You're but instead of adding the zombie population you just helped reduce it.

The Braveheart Method
Heres something ive been concocting up in my head for quite sometime now, so i figured id see if any other members might think its a good idea. It helps save ammo, and is fairly simple to execute. Braveheart inspired this Theory. Imagine if we are in a heavily forested area, and we take immensely long and thick tree branches that we've cut down from trees and we sharpen the ends of them and harden the ends using a fire as used in The Odyssey. Make alot of them, preferably hundreds. With this done, you can use The Island Trench with this method to create a very deadly combination. but you may also use a standard line formation or a circle or wedge formation as well. After this, attract zombies by making noise or some other way. Once zombies come, have teams of spear men using these improvised spears you've made (teams of 2) to stab with the spear at any approaching undead. Spears are decently accurate in untrained hands, so men trained with spears will most likely kill off the undead as the keep coming for you. have the men working as a team, protecting each other much like the spartans did. If in line or wedge formation, advance slowly forward or backward as needed in the fight. If using Island Trench, have someone going along the trench and killing any live infected who fell in. This method is untested, but might work as a possible Lure/Hunting Method.

Inland waterways
Any suggestions on inland waterways usage? I am near the White river, which feeds into the Arkansas, which feeds into the Mississippi. When the White was in flood this year, it was almost in my backyard, so inland waterways are an option, I am not sure how good an option.
