Morality vs Anarchy
This has been a very interesting topic between my friends and I. In case of total anarchy and dissolution of authority, what would happen to morals? You want to think that you'd save that woman and her baby trapped in their car by a mob of zombies, but would you really risk your life to do that?

Surviving and Living
Forgive me if this is disjointed. My brain is a little fried but still insistent.
There is a lot of talk of survival on this sight (in other news Water is wet) and what would be needed to do so but after some thought I feel that the preperations need to go a tad further.
I'm speaking of living. Of eaking out a small level of enjoyment from life in spite of the ya know world ending...thing. Survival is the goal of prolonging your existence but for many we need something to shoot for beyond the next day even if that goal is in the distant future.
So when will your transition from a survival mindset to one that enables actual living? Will you or will you simply keep the survival mindset and not allow for anything more?
We speak a lot on what we need to survive but what do we need to live? To enjoy our existence on some level?
What (if anything) do you want that could make living better?

Why would you want to survive?
3 weeks into Z-Day.
Your family is dead. Your friends have turned. Every relationship you ever had has collapsed.
Your savings, financial status and assets are now economically worthless.
In 40 years time if you do survive you will become weaker both physically and mentally, there will be no one to look after you.
With all this in mind is it correct to adopt a nihilist attitude?
Should you go for the absurdist attitude?
Or does your life still have meaning when stripped of everything?
Let the ZSDW know what you think.
Definitions:
Nihillist - Rejection of everything. Life has no meaning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihilism Absurdist - Life has no meaning. However, it does have a meaning if you can create a meaning for it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absurdism

Swan Song
Pan this situation out:
You come back from hunting to find that your party is holed up within the BOL, surrounded by zeds on every side. They are holding them off as best as they can, but there are simply too many, nor is there any way for them to escape.
For the purpose of simplicity, let's say you have the means to allow them to escape, but it would cost you your life.
You look at your ipod on your hip (let's just say you have one there) for that one song to help drive you into the fray. The one that sums up your life, your ambitions, your values, and most importantly in this case, your kickass-ness into one steroid juicing, red blood pumping "I'm going to tear a zombie's head off" song.
So, which one would you pick as your "Swan Song"? And as an added flair, who is the one you'd do it all for the most?

Education
Although the primary aim is to survive. After life has "rebooted", how might we go about teaching our children the things that we'd rather not be forgotten pre-zpoc?
Teaching from father to son comes to mind readily, like passing down skills or the family business. But what about biology, mathematics, philosophy, the arts, etc?
Things would be very different, no doubt. But if S were to HTF in our generation, or your children's generation, would you want those higher levels of thinking to be carried over?

I've been bit, what do we do now?
This scenario is simple. Or so it seems. You are a member of a group during zed-poc. Somehow you were bitten but managed to escape/survive the encounter.
It seems to me that you and your mates have but a few options available. Odds are good that you will turn, but what do you want to do with yourself until then?
1) Shoot me now. We all know that you are infected and odds are really good that you will turn. Shooting yourself, or being shot by a member of your party would be an act of kindness/self preservation for them.
2) Let me hang out with you guys and shoot me when I turn. We all want to live as long as possible. That's what makes us human. Do you want to endanger your friends/family when you turn? Maybe you should just take option #1?
3) Let me leave the group and turn on my own terms. Doing this you risk turning and still having some semblance to humanity. You also gain living all the way up until you die. This seems like a risk to most because you will endanger others, and even possibly run the risk of becoming a conscious zed that is in a terrible sort of personal bondage.
4) Let me stay with the group and hope that there is a cure out there. This runs all sorts of risk, but then again it's possible that you could be bitten/turned/and the cured. A pipe dream at best, but it's an option non the less.
What would you want your group to do? I've decided and voiced to my potential group that I would like them to let me go off on my own if this happens. I understand the risks involved, but I love living and would want to hold on to that for as long as possible.
You?
