"can a 22. kill a zombie?"
Yes, it can. I killed a deer with a .22 when I was 10. He didn't go 40 yards. So I assume it can kill Zak.

Where did you hit the deer? And, would the same shot be effective of a Zombie? Going 40 yards, sounds like he could have done some major damage.

I shot the deer in the head from 60 yards away. Also, Zak couldn't go forty yards, they can't run as fast as a deer (heck, they can't run.) The average .22 caliber bullet has the same power as one buckshot, but with more range. I

On the other hand, Zed shot in the same spot would probably just keep on coming, if a deer can go 40 yards that would seem to imply a non-terminal wound for Zed.

If one has never used a firearm before, they will be very poor shooters with almost every ammunition type on Z-day.

Watch this video. It makes me laugh every single time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7W7lbXyPus so funny.

However, even my little sister could shoot a dinky .22 gun. It has near-negligible recoil. AAAANDDD if we make it to a gun shop, even if all the other calibres have been looted, there is bound to be thousands of rounds of .22LR lying around everywhere.

You need to look at the relative speed of a deer and a Zed. It took the deer (I counted) nine seconds to go that far. Now, since .22 was a low caliber, no matter how good the shot the deer will keep moving for at least a little while. Even muscle spasms will take it about 10 feet. But if a Zed was alive for 9 seconds after being shot, he probably wouldn't go over 15 feet. Of course, I use 30-06 now instead of .22, that isn't the point. By the way, the shot I made didn't actually hit the brain, but impacted lower, closer to the jaw. I imagine a brain shot would be quicker. I would use the .22 as a anti-zombie weapon, because, as Heavenly sword said, it's light, cheap, no recoil, and would most likely kill a zed.
