ok. here's my take on it

If there is a virus that infects you and "kills" (I prefer the term 'mutats') you, then there is no chance that you will ever be normal again. I can say this scientifically because if the zombie virus is a retro virus, then it will imbed its DNA in every cell of the nervous system, and removing a gene sequence from EVERY cell in the entire nervous system if neither safe, nor effective. - if you start saying 'its impossible' your going to have to be prepaired to back it up, and not mistake a failed domestication program when there really isnt any evidence to back a cure.

you could have made a counter-virus for after infection containing the person's pre-infection DNA. Just a random thought.

That would be really hard though to get the dna BEFORE infection. Then you would have to make the counter virus BEFORE the real virus even takes place and not enough scientists even believe zombies as possible to even look for something like that. You would have to travel back to the persons house who was infected to get DNA and everything and thats too risky.
