HEY IM ALIVE!
Dec 26 2007, 1:31 AM EST there needs to be an official "Hey I'm not a zombie please do not shoot me in the head" sign. You know like when you want to say "Im choking" you put your hands to your throat. maybe both hand flat on top of your head, something like that. I know you can just yell it to peple you see, but whatabout this scenario. your walking through a town after Z-day and it seems empty. Your looking for supplies, food, ect and you dont want someone plugging you in the head from long range. What do you do? If you see a fat man in black walking with 2 hands flat on his head please do not shoot me in the head I am alive 65 out of 69 found this valuable. Do you? |

What about a very deliberate movement? Like 2 quick closed fist thumps to your chest, right hand to left side of the chest? Although if the person shooting misses the gesture, you're dead anyway. Decomposing shambling body, Non decomposing running body without any marks on it possibly carrying a gun trying to hide from other zombies. You would know. If anything just say a few words. Dec 27 2007, 10:46 PM EST Also heres another thought. My wife has Multiple Sclerosis, on a very bad day and no medication she could shamble though she would try not to. A hard day or surviving could make anyone look like hell. Dirty, covered in blood, tired, limping and just worn out. Could look like a zombie pretty easily. 17 out of 18 found this valuable. Dec 27 2007, 11:01 PM EST true true true. Though, How are you going to know to give the sign. If someone is aiming from 200 yards away it may be a bit hard for you to see them. The multiple sclerosis thought was a very good. I didnt take that into consideration :P. I guess you need some sort of sign but its way to risky if your going through an infested area throwing up signs. If your traveling in a group maybe you could have one designated signer lol. Like, make a picket sign to carry through the area, and he could use a small hand gun and hold the sign up while traveling? I dunno. It would have to be some sort of complex hand signal cause anything easy could be mimicked by a zombie. That wouldnt turn out well. 12 out of 12 found this valuable. Do you? |

Dec 28 2007, 2:25 AM EST couldnt do the sign all the time I know I just think time like when you leave a building. looks clear outside, throw hands up, cross arms wave in the air like you just dont care or something so the sniper accross the street wont pick you off. Maybe its not a perfect idea just trying something to cover my butt. only other thing I can think of is one of those comical beany hat with a spinner on top. Hook it up to a stethascope so that when the heart stops (like when you turn to a zombie) it wont spin anymore. lol 9 out of 10 found this valuable. Do you? |

Dec 28 2007, 10:37 PM EST First I want you all to think about the not so desirables catching sight of your sign. That could spell your doom as fast as the paranoid vigilante/sniper. Secondly why can't it be an audible sign like, the blowing of a whistle? You know the gym teacher kind? That's loud. If you are worried about zombies taking notice of it, your right to do so, but they would notice you flailing your arms about also. They would probably notice a billboard if you packed one around. I think that we have to just trust that the man on the giving side of the rifle takes a second to identify and discriminate his target, because bullets don't. 6 out of 7 found this valuable. When you think about it, he's going to shoot you if he feels like it. regardless of your gang sign, sandwich board or flare gun. I guess the message is when YOU are the guy sitting behind the trigger, look at who YOU are about to end. May the other guy do the same. Jan 7 2008, 9:32 PM EST Honestly, there is no "hey im alive" hand sign that would work. Everyone would be coming up with their own and then it would just be confusion where ever you went. Carring a sign around or wearing "special" clothing wouldnt work because one would have to have the ability to obtain such clothing. (although true zombie surviors would have such clothing ready) And we all know writing in bold letters "im alive" on our clothing is just stupid lol. But a good compromise would be if you are in a group, to have a hand sign that your group knows so they can identify you should you be coming back from a scouting raid, etc. That way your own group wont put a bullet in your head while your trying to get back. And while you are out on a scouting trip, just hope some other survior doesnt mistake you for a zombie. 3 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |
