Gloves: Yes or No?
Jan 18 2008, 10:11 PM EST Gloves are credited as being both cumbersome and protective. This is true: they will protect your hands from weather, attack, etc. but will reduce your sense of touch and finger dexterity. So the question is: Are gloves a useful part of zombie-slaying attire? This debate can be sorted out here. Personally, I would go with leather gloves, but cut off the fingers and sew on a small flap/pouch thing out of whatever material I could find to fit over the fingers when it gets cold. 8 out of 10 found this valuable. Feb 24 2008, 12:00 AM EST some mountain bike gloves, and some lighter work gloves, but some gloves are too thick and i know on my gun with some of my gloves, my finger wont fit in the trigger guard. and im not really willing to take that off. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Feb 26 2008, 2:28 AM EST I would say no, that sense of touch is just too important. Not just the fingers, but being able to move the whole hand, use your palm to feel (like in your pocket) is critical in a dangerous and fast situation. Basically just keep your hands safe and you won't need gloves. ...unless your doing stuff like moving debris or barbed wire and the like. Then use gloves. Please. Use them. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

It would be a good idea during melee combat and during clean up but I wouldn't use them everyday around my fortress or during long range combat. Maybe rubber gloves or something water and airtight to keep infected flesh out. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Mar 13 2008, 4:09 PM EDT Gloves are a necessity. Picking the right glove is very much a matter of choice. Personally, I feel that long cuff gloves made with Kevlar fabric (for cut/tear resistance) with high dexterity are ideal. Wiley X Tactical Assault Gloves are perfect, but expensive. They are designed to allow for maximum dexterity and use of firearms. You shouldn't be reaching in small pockets anyway. If you are properly equipped, you would have large cargo pockets and ideally ALICE or MOLLE Load Bearing Equipment with extra pouches. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Mar 29 2008, 9:41 AM EDT I think you could wear some gore-flex gloves if you were fighting melee but not for a gun. i mean, if people can climb Mt. Everest with gloves then you should be able to use then smashing heads with a wep. But not for guns b/c then you could fumble and drop your ammo or something and that would get you killed. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Apr 24 2008, 8:32 PM EDT "i mean, if people can climb Mt. Everest with gloves then you should be able to use then smashing heads with a wep. "Non-sequitar argument... Logic ftw! (time to say something relevant so I'm not hijacking the thread to start a war of logic) Neoprene gloves are used in all weather tactical situations! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Apr 24 2008, 8:56 PM EDT Two words: fingerless gloves. Good grip, great finger dexterity, protective...the list goes on. Think about it for a while. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Apr 24 2008, 10:12 PM EDT Fingerless gloves work great. I like the ability to use my fingers and stay protected. They keep the blood vessles on the back of the hand warm so you don't feel cold, But my hands are always cold anyway. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Gloves: Yes or No?
Apr 25 2008, 8:56 AM EDT I am not a professional, but I have talked to plenty of fellow soldiers who have spent 9-18 months at a time kicking in doors. They all say that gloves are a complete necessity. No questions. They are carrying and frequently using rifles, pistols, and the occasional shotgun. They know their stuff, and they complete every mission wearing gloves. You want your hands to be protected, even if you don't have zombies trying to bite them. See my last post about picking the right glove. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Apr 25 2008, 10:14 AM EDT Galls in one of the outfits we get fire fighting gear from and they have police/ SWAT gear as well. Even your best SWAT team is only in gloves for a few hours, I agree with tebben, if you want to wear them any lenght of time talk to the vets. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Apr 28 2008, 6:27 PM EDT we were issued the hatch operator gloves and they are nice, and did not hinder the operation of weapons or anything. i would recommend the wiley x tag 1 gloves kevlar stichted in them so they are cut resistent and with the molded hard knuckles you can still crack some skulls with them if you find yourself without weapons. 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
