Hope

I think we've clearly established that very few people think that a dead person can come back to what we could call living. I'm not sure why it's even an issue.

But the fact that everyone gave up hope so quickly makes me doubt anyone's survival. I'm disappointed with the 'not a chance' attitude so many people are adopting in this hypothetical situation. If you are faced with this undead scenario (and I pray you never are), you should realize that keeping morale up is crucial. You'll be faced with near impossible odds in a situation that main stream society disregards as not likely in their lifetime (or perhaps ever). It's that kind of long shot that should convince you to never discount a small possibility such as a cure.

Prepare however you like for your survival, but remember that hope is a primary need.

Personally, I'd favor experimenting with massive blood transfusions on the recently infected, except for the drain on supplies it would create. Also, swift amputation would be another solution. Just be sure you use something sterile. Your machete covered in zombie ichor won't serve this function.

One must always have hope, that is very true. But I eliminated the thought of a cure in my head because that is not the concern of the average human with no Scientific training. The most Chemistry I can claim is Volatile substances. I choose to think in a worst case to adopt a low expectation. There is still hope, but it helps to set your expectations low, so surmounting odds amplifies the feeling of accomplishment. I don't believe in a cure, I hope for it, but dont' believe in it. I believe in surviving physically and maintaining mental balance. This is my goal. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I believe you may be misinterpreting the general belief that there is no cure into a general belief that there is no possibility of survival.
SURVIVAL IS POSSIBLE
The question this page asks is whether those on this site believe there is a possibility that once a person is infected or becomes a zombie they can be cured. Most of the comments I have read(if not all) have stated that RECOVERY is not possible. This is not to say SURVIVAL is not possible (it is). If you have read my comment on the page you realize I am among those who believe once infected, a person cannot be cured. But I am no scientist.
No virus(or other cause) has been studied for a cure. So I will grant you that should a major outbreak occur some scientist somewhere could maybe develop a cure.

But I deem such a possibility very remote, and in the event that a person in my group becomes infected and a proven cure is not readily available I will not put myself and others at risk by clinging to such a remote possibility as being able to tie them up and cure them once it can be obtained.
Hoping for a cure with no knowledge of a cure can lead to some bad situations(as many zombie films have shown).
Yes, hope for Survival is necessary, but hope for a Cure without proof of one is dangerous.

There may come a time when finding a cure will be tantamount to survival.

Thanks for the reply. You've given me a lot to think about.
