For those who can

If you have the oppurtunity (this will probably apply to rural areas and maybe just Canada), pick up the manual for Ground Search and Rescue. I own one (as I'm a GSAR volunteer), and it has everything you need for survival. How to build shelter, how to traverse ALL landscapes, use advanced equipment, and how to use many if not all radio systems. It's the bomb.

Downside: Probably a bitch to find. Since I don't think there are many (if any) volunteer Search and Rescue groups in places like the US (mostly a police business).

Hey! A fellow Canuck! I'll look into that book. I'm going to Edmonton in a few days, so I'll stop buy a military surplus store and take a lok, they have lots of cool crap in those stores. Do you find this valuable?

Actually, the Feds have a Search And Rescue plan at the national level (I know, because my old CO kept riding me about taking SARFUND which is the Guard’s section of that plan).
Unfortunately, it was written by Ron BROWN’S FEMA. You can imagine what I think about it.
Do you find this valuable?
