I'm Maverick. Who wants to be Iceman? We can have the whole Top Gun gang here! Hahaha. No, seriously, I think we've touched base on callsigns in the past - most of them aren't something you just pick out to sound cool, typically they're earned by doing something particularly poorly or screwing up, or its a play on words on your name. For example, my dad's Naval callsign (he was a P3 Orion pilot) was "Lambdog" - a play on our last name. He was also called the "Floozy King of NAS Pensacola" but I'm not going to tell that story over the internet.... Do you find this valuable? |

Yes LJ we have seen these before however I've never understood what the point of them was. As a comms operator, I use callsigns all the time however I never commented on these posts before because I'm still not sure whether they being used in a professional manner (i.e. A10C) or just for a laugh (Call me Bigfoot German). "Be careful, sir...*Gives the secret signal for snipers to standbye....* Well its true. The one the reasons why we have callsigns is to hide who we're calling so the enemy can't build up a picture of your battle plan. Sersiously there is so much to think about in communications.
