nunchuku
Apr 6 2008, 6:13 PM EDT a great and underestimated weapon, the nunchuku ( or nun-chuks) are a one the best melee weapons. nunchuku are one-handed which gives another hand to use. also even with a very powerful strike one does not risk losing their balance and falling. being light and strong they do not take an outrageous amount of energy to use. even with being a close range weapon you still have a good reach of more than 3 feet. as a blunt weapon it also doesn't risk large amounts of blood flying and infecting you or our companions. 3 out of 11 found this valuable. RE: nunchuku
Apr 7 2008, 5:08 PM EDT the only drawback to the "chuks" is after it strikes an objecy , say for instance, a skull , there is no telling which way its going to rebound. Nat Geo did an interesting show called the Science of Fighting and they proved that it was rather ineffective compared to other melee weapons even when used by a master. the escrima stikes were more useful but again puts you in close proximity to your intended target. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. RE: nunchuku
Apr 8 2008, 12:21 PM EDT while you make a very good point, nunchuku would not be able to strike through a human skull very well, it,when used correctly, could easily strike through a brittle decaying zombie skull. as for the flying anywhere a skilled used of nunchuku has a sence of the flow of the weapon and could easily regain control. also the range of nunckuku is quite large, a bit larger than that of a sword or baseball bat, seeing as it is about 3-4 feet in length 0 out of 2 found this valuable. RE: nunchuku
Apr 15 2008, 11:27 AM EDT These take skill to use, and the average person doesnt have the skill to use it efectively. The average person is more likely to hurt themself than the zombie. I am a martial artist and have used them before. They look cool, but that is about it. There probably are some people out there who could use them to kill zombies, but not most people. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: nunchuku
Apr 16 2008, 12:54 AM EDT i must conceed you that point, they do take skill and training but so do many other weapons already on the list and would still be useful for those who know them and for when other weapons are not redily available for those who are not trained 0 out of 2 found this valuable. RE: nunchuku
May 24 2008, 5:51 AM EDT Nunchuku are an outrageously big NO-NO in my opinion. Not only would the general public be uneducated in its use (we are talking about being general public and surviving a zombie outbreak, not trained masters), but they would be widely unavailable. A flail or morning star follows the same rule (I could hear someone lurking thinking about those by the way). Most of the weapons on the useful/useless lists are just things that you could pick up, not be trained with, and still be able to have, at least, moderate success with. I think that anything that requires in-depth training should be ruled out as a weapon unless the user has said training. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 26 2008, 9:36 AM EDT Some one's been watching to many Bruce Lee movies and to many Ninja Turtles episodes!! Next you will be talking throwing stars. If nunchuku were a viable weapon they would have instructed us on them in basic training. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: nunchuku
May 26 2008, 12:56 PM EDT I don't put much stock in their ability to crack ANY skull. Not saying they cant, but I dont think they could do so reliably enough to make them a good choice. Also, blunt trauma does cause blood spatter, if I remember my forensics correctly, blunt trauma causes more blood spatter on impact, adnt hen flicks it back when you recock for another strike. And once again, training and actually knowing how to use it makes all the difference, neither of which less than 99% of the population has. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: nunchuku
Sep 23 2008, 8:23 PM EDT AGAINST THE LIVING, Nunchucks do prove effective. Agaisnt the anti-dead, we can NOT assume they will be effective, since even our best case senario (my own belief of severly brain damaged, in luie of undead), they may well just not fucking feel it, or not care. Additioanlly, the blood splatter WILL get blood on you, infecting you, and therefore I gotta duct tape a claymore to your head and that sucks for ME. Do you find this valuable? |

Sep 24 2008, 1:05 PM EDT My friend who's a martial arts junkie [he's a black-belt in some cracked out martial art; I've seen the belt and the trophies and stuff] tried to use nun-chucks against me and he failed.....I just punched 'em out of his hand and beat the shit out of him then booted him across the room....He just laid there for like 5 minutes, utterly defeated. For real. Do you find this valuable? |
