you're an idiot shadodoug, carrier pigeons aren't a species they're just pigeons that you train to go from one house to another, if you fed pigeons at your house for months, put them in a cage took them to somone elses house and fed them for a few more months and you were close enough to eachother for a few hours of flight you'd have a carrier pigeon!!!!! you tard Do you find this valuable?

I think I will still go with the CB radio. 12 volt system, you are your own transmiter and receiver and they have walkie talkie type for when you are on foot. Pigeons are stiil made out of meat and lay eggs, that will come in handy Do you find this valuable?

Shadowdoug may be possibly the biggest idiot I have seen on this site. But then again I haven't been here that long... CB radios will be the first and easiest choice, however due to their limited range without a linear amp (which aren't that easy to come by), I think that scavenged police and fire radios will be the best choice. In my truck right now I have a Cobra CB with upper and lower sideband and a 500 watt linear amp, with dual Firestick fiberglass whips and a secondary steel whip if i really want to crank the power. I also have a 400 channel digital trunking scanner with a dual centerloaded antenna that can track HAM, CB, Police, Fire, Marine, Aircraft, Military, 2-way, and damn near anything else that uses radio waves. Next is going to be a police radio... if I can get my hands on one. Do you find this valuable?

Oh yeah, and just because... I got a hold of a signal light from a military surplus store. It's about 18" in diameter and has a lever that opens and closes "blinds" behind the lense to allow you to send morse code. They are used at sea, but I think its a good thing to have around. Only problem is that its 24 volts and uses a bulb i have never seen before so i think modification is necessary so it can be used on 12 volts and I can have replacement bulbs. I think in addition to C.B. Radio and or a Scanner is to consider the high end walkie talkies (5-10 mile radius). As most would be surviving with close knit family members, friends and or groups. Everybody could be on the same channel and keep in touch with each other when looking for food, supplies, or even when on the road (to inform others of emergency stops, gas, routes etc.) Batteries could be easily obtained (practically any store) especially in quantity (Walmart etc.) Do you find this valuable?
