Z-day Survivor Signals System

If after Z-day then a silent form of communication using body language may need to be in place. My suggestion is that a color coordination system. including a way to tell of current stability in say a camp.
RED-alone with supplies
BLUE-group with supplies
BROWN-searching for survivors have camp level 1(5-10 survivors a years worth of supplies or less)
BLACK-searching for survivors have camp level 2 (11-25 survivors two years of supplies and moderate defenses)
DARK GREY-searching for survivors have camp level 3(26+ survivors 3-5 years of supplies or farming in place and moderately sever to sever defenses or a civilization infection free)
PURPLE-needing refuge no or little supplies and alone

This would work for those of us on site, how about armbands like the military MPs or Medics use? We pick out a symbol that we like and make a " Uniform " armband. Do you find this valuable?

What about:

Warm colours for number of people in your group (Pink: 1, Yellow: 2 to 10, Orange: 11 to 20, Red: 21+)
Cool colours for supplies (Blue: <1 years worth, Purple: 1 to 2 years worth, Green: >2 years worth)
Shades for defense capabilities (White: Nomadic, Grey: Stable, Black: Fortified)

Flags at bases and quick shots of spraypaint on clothing (maybe down arms or across back) would do wonders for inter-survivor identification.

I wouldn't laugh, but it would be very ironic when you spray paint your shirt red get sniped by a survivor that doesn't know your color system. Do you find this valuable?

"now i had some one say I'm wasting my time,."
No one was saying that. Only that it got saved as a page.
It was a novel idea, and will probably get used by other for other puropses. During the '89 Loma Prieta quake, they did something simular to this; I remember, becasue I re-used the concept in my book (except to show other thigs; diffrent coding system).

Oh, well, perhaps we could adopt a modified version of the FEMA signal protocol.
Of course, FEMA could fuck up a wet dream, but that's another subject...

anything set in place by the government sides the basic laws are gonna go day one, they didn't plan so they don't get a say in it, if your going to ask what those basic laws are they are:
no murder
no rape
no public nudity(mainly cause thats idiotic)
the basics

The purpose, in cases such as this, of the government should be:
1. Establish the basic operating plan (publishing guides as to what to do);
2. Rebuilding afterwards.

Unfortunately, after Katrina, we can depend upon them for neither. (We can depend upon the US Coast Guard and maybe the National Guards, but not beyond that.)

i think marines on active duty when it happens would probably be the best help, there base would be the most secure till, as we all know from 28 weeks later, containment is breached and we are all screwed or on the run. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
