What to do

First, shack up with a group of trusted friends and family to hold off the initial onslaught. Then, as things settle, cautiously explore the immediate area (easy walking distance). Unless you are forced to fight zombies, avoid at all costs. The same goes for dogs and BOWs.

The UBCS and USS may be easier to handle, if properly thought out. Mark where they are, follow them, and, when the time is right, get the drop on them, taking their weapons and gauging their psychological status. If they are like Carlos, and have some compassion in them, they are a valuable trained addition to the group. If they are like Nicoli, however...

As for escape, that is simpler than expected. Since most cities have state of the art sewers, it stands to reason that these would lead outside the city, possibly to a location outside the quarentine zone.

Now, for interaction with other survivors. Unless they are clearly insane, such as in Dead Rising, be cautious. Look for signs of compassion, such as caring for an orphan or a similar gesture. If the person is loud, brash, and combative, it is better to leave that person with a similar group.

i hear the sewer escape method alot, thing about the sewers is, they tend to have large amounts of h2s (hydrogyn sulfide) methane, and carbon dioxide in them ; all of which can kill you like raid on a roach. also, there are large amounts of flow in these lines, since most larger cities have combined sewers - which means they have both storm water and sewer flowing through them.. geeze i think too much about these things.
i think the best method of escape would be via the surface, and as soon into the outbreak as possible - before the roadways get too congested. i did get really bored at work the other day and thought about what i'd do.
first off i would grab my shotguns and rifles from my house, and head to one of the county water authorities properties (which are completely fenced in), i would head straight for one of our water plants. seeing as how they are built on and around great agricultural land, and have the ability to stay powered for long periods of time - even though the system around them has gone down. you could ride out an outbreak at one of these plants for the duration, you would just need to establish patrols around the perimeter's fences, and make sure that no breaches are made in the defenses. these facilities also have many chemicals and other lab sustances that can be used to research the disease and possibly identify an antibody. i've seen tomatoes and watermelons grow from heeps of dung before, so i know that you could grow massive crops in these spray fields, and as long as you had some water technicians with you one could concievably keep the plant running, producing clean drinking water for a long period of time.

Well, in the sewers there's going to be a hell of a lot of stormwater - when fighting evil in a computer game, there tends to be a violent storm above, to add to the atmosphere of the game... I bet the developers didn't think of that.

No seriously, if you are careful, you can sneak out of the town. In the alleys behind houses, through backyards, there's always cover. It's gonna be a long trip, though. And if the army's quarrantined the area, you can forget about it.

basing on what Quickrace said, if using caution and stealth escaping will be not as difficult as using brute force Do you find this valuable?

Spot on, bro.

The Umbrella Corp has a lot more guns than you, more people, and more training. If you want to go up against them with brute force, you might as well shove your gun up your ass and go do cartwheels in front of them.
