A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
May 12 2008, 5:03 PM EDT Zombies. We have no right to claim that we a zombie experts; nor is it good to. Firstly, let's check out the definition of expert. --- Noun - One, be they he or she, with significant "EXPERIANCE" in an area. You may be knowedgeable in the "THEORYS" of zombies, but I highly doubt that you have 1st hand "experianced" an outbreak. It would, hence make more sense to re-title yourself a "theorist" of zombies. Secondly; you may be "PREPARED" for zombies, likewise as above; you are no expert. You are "Prepatory" to an invasion. Or "preperred" for zombies. Whatever way you wish to put it. I beleive the people who title themselves as "experts" should re-title themselves to either; 1) Zombie Theorist 2) Zombie Prepatory or Prepared I am leaving this open to debate now. RE: A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
May 13 2008, 11:07 PM EDT someone can be an expert in the zombie media. In the way you could say your a Zombie movie expert. But its not gonna save your butt when it happens because who knows what we really deal with. I think in one thread I joked about being an expert since Ive seen all the movies and since were dealing with a movie monster I was an expert. But we all know none of us are for real. If I saw a really real zombie I would like to think I would be like " ok here it is the time we knew would come" then kill it and board up the house but who knows I may just poop my pants and curl up sucking my thumb. Only time will tell. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
May 20 2008, 2:23 AM EDT Ah, Marsden...I do enjoy your posts and am often inclined to agree with you. And this is no exception. While many of us on this site may indeed be experts in one or more fields(as evidenced by the What Makes You an Expert? page), none of us can truly claim to be a zombie expert as no real zombies have come about(at least not long enough for anyone to study and become an expert on) that we know of. The theorist and zombie media experts certainly do exist. If anything this whole site is composed of theorists, just find some of the livlier debated thread topics and pages to be found on the site. But a zombie expert? No. Unless you are one of the mad government scientists working on some horrible biological weapon that the public won't know about until it is too late. In that case, you may be an expert. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 20 2008, 2:41 AM EDT Thank you McSkullcracken. I was fearing this might turn into a flame war; so I held back from posting it for a while. Thanks also, for the example of the government scientist. I forgot about them. 3 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
May 30 2008, 7:45 PM EDT Well, if you want to get technical, there are no zombie theories, because theories require concrete evidence to be theories. Therefore, we are "zombie hypothesizers" because we have come up with hypotheses, not theories. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
May 30 2008, 9:31 PM EDT you can be a mythology expert as it is a real field of study. Zombies could be called a modern mythology so if you think about someone who is an expert on the available media then they are a zombie expert. You can be a vampire expert, werwolf. boogeyman, ect you just gotta know your stuff. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 31 2008, 8:18 AM EDT True, but I don't like the idea of getting ideas off movies due to unrealistic stunts in them. But in the mythologoy expert area George Rormero is a true expert, I'm he based the Night of the Living dead on true insident (Wink, Wink) 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
May 31 2008, 8:48 PM EDT I find it fascinating that this thread has gotten so lively! Lest's just pray that us "zombie theorists" and "zombie prep'd" will be able to survive if "Z" day ever came.. I'm in the Military so of course i will be a first responder in such and incident. Will my two in the chest one in the head", training suffice or will i be among the walking dead? A sobering thought... 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
Jun 1 2008, 3:18 AM EDT Well, if you know how to kill one, then your an expert ya?? no, not quite, Killing a zombie is quite easy, anyone could do it, it's the survivability aspect that is more important. So perhaps, it would be better to call ones self a survival expert (which does in fact require a certain level of hands-on experience) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
Jun 1 2008, 11:15 AM EDT I'm not going to call anyone a "Zombie Survival Expert" there being so many different kinds we can't know them all. Really no one will exer be an expert because (At least I don't think) none of us have ever been through a post zombie world. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: A word to the wiki's zombie "experts"
Jun 2 2008, 8:20 PM EDT i believe more often than not, people will try to list themselves under their fields of expertise, but not such a broad thing as being a zombie expert, its like saying you are a people expert without having ever take any psychology or read anything conclusive about it, nor having ever met another person 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Jun 8 2008, 12:17 AM EDT Another thing we can call ourselves (this is one of the most common ones) is "Zombie Enthusiasts", this is claiming no experience in the matter whatsoever (just the theory's and hypothesis's that are on this wiki and elsewhere). 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
