StrykerPez: Look at rabies. Dogs, cats, rodents, humans... However, I think that the virus would have to target a specific part of the human brain and therefore only be carried in other mammals. A dog infected with the Z-virus would show no signs of infection, yet if the dog bit a human, then the human would turn. Now i beleive this virus is going to be a mutation off of something man made probly a attempt to cure cancer or something for example http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2008/03/10/virus-brain-cancer-02.html the VSV virus which is related to Rabies.....that shows a great deal of how the closet thing out right now to being the virus is related to something that is cross species....the sad fact is in real life if it is a virus they are going to be able to run and they will not be dead the main proteins of the brain will break down causing them to go into their most animalistic instincts which is to feed they might even be able to communicate hunt in packs they will probly release special faramons that will show eachother that they are changed. at first they will be slow cause they will be people in their 60 or 80 dying of cancer then when the virus mutates it will get to faster stronger hosts yet the virus will effect other mamals humans are still to slow to caught them.
