Chainsaw a practical weapon?
May 30 2008, 10:45 PM EDT | Post edited: May 30 2008, 10:45 PM EDT
If anyone here has actually used a chainsaw they would know that it is large and unwieldy. Why would it ever be a good weapon to use? Do you find this valuable?

Well, yes, the chainsaw is unwieldy, however, if used in a good manner they can be effective weapons. Take for example you have run out of ammo from whatever gun you're using, and are faced by a Zombie hoard. The best thing to do would use a hand to hand combat weapon in order to beat them all back. That's where the handy chainsaw comes in. It may not be the best weapon, but it packs a might punch until the chain breaks from the mass of zombie skull hitting against it. actually, at the speed the chain is going at, it will bounce off anything fleshy. im not saying it wount do considerable damage, but it can hurt you just as mush as it can hurt skin jobs. Do you find this valuable?

There are 47 topics featuring chainsaw...

A chainsaw is way too loud and can draw lots of zombies to your area. While you're cutting up those zombies, blood and flesh would definitely spray on you which may cause infection. Fuel can be put to better use. By the way, a chainsaw isn't that heavy according to this.

Actually 4.6 kg (10.1 lbs.) is very heavy for a melee weapon. For comparison a Claymore, the great two-handed scottish battlesword usually weigh about 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs), and thats one bigass sword. Do you find this valuable?

Yeah, but you don't need to swing a chainsaw as much as a Claymore.

Yeah, until to spinning blades are pushed by towards you by the weight even a small group of people, or infected gore sprays you in the face, or the blade jams, or chunks of potentially still snapping zombie is spilling onto you.

Something I stumbled across

This version doesn't have enough power to be really useful, but one with a bigger electric motor might be. It is also fairly quiet. Of course, weight and spray issues still apply.

The issue here is that it isn't that simple. They are heavy, loud, and unweildy, but they also are powerful. There is always good and bad sides. An electric saw will be quieter, but have less running time. I will say though that they are not the best weapon because it isnt what they are designed for Do you find this valuable?

No. A Chainsaw would be a good weapon against trees. Not humans. Good luck though. Do you find this valuable?
