I agree that they hunt by smell I also think that they use sight hearing touch and taste. See my idea of a zombie is that a bacteria is infected in the body and slowly decays them while they are still living and the only part it leaves is the neveous system making the decaying process very painful driving the victim crazy, eventually the bacterium will enter the human population and since humans are herd animals we would move in huge numbers. The only thing that slows the bacterium down is meat because the bacteria will attack the alien in the body as a new source of food to decay. That makes it so the zombies are actually alive so you CAN kill them and it solves the why do they eat flesh and the newer the zombie the smarter they are meaning they could stratagy's and use weapons and machinery. The zombies will attack anything that they think is food aka anything that looks tastes sounds and smells like food such as meat. Now to me, I think makes much more sense ohh and I have this idea copyrighted. Do you find this valuable? |

"I agree that they hunt by smell I also think that they use sight hearing touch and taste.Zombies don't feel pain. They're just walking bodies that can use their functions for finding prey. I don't think their nerves will be working very well; even with fatal injuries they are still about to function and hunt without running around screaming in pain. Do you find this valuable? |

I think they do it by all senses like you know in 28 days later the zombies are really freaking fast and strong, well their normal bodies arent like that so they could hear a heartbeat in a house six miles away, and see a human running through a high rise six hundred feet away and smell an evacuation car five hours before it reaches them. if you ask me Z would be good hunting dogs

"Zombies don't feel pain. They're just walking bodies that can use their functions for finding prey.i dont think you understood me so to clarify these zombies are ALIVE. and they might not be screaming they could be moening they could be whimpering but all in all some of them can still keep a sense of self preservation and will do so at the cost of there fellow victoms. and you think that you can make my idea change just because you think so then you have a god complex meaning what you think is right just because you think it. sorry about ranting there it was unproffeshional on my part and take full credit but it made me feel better. this is my idea of a zombie and you can have yours ownley if they rise will we really know so dont drag other peaple down just because of your own ideas (man i sound like a hippacrit after all of the anger) Do you find this valuable? |

Nope she's got a point, zombies have to be dead. If they're not dead then they're not zombies, its that simple. If they're alive then they're not the living dead, if they're not the living dead then they're not zombies. Therefore, while your idea for a monster is interesting, it is not a zombie.

well i call anyone with a will to do anything and yet is totally out of it a zombie.take a druggy for example they might focus on walking down the street but are totally out of it. i would call the druggy a zombie because they dont really know what they are doing. Do you find this valuable? |

I would suggest the idea maybe they are attracted to body heat, smell, sound, and sight. Otherwise they would attack their own kind... I think it was Dawn of the dead that made a reference to the zombies preferring warm flesh, you may double check this, I think it was in the beginning stages of the mall. How ever they also referred to animals being safe. I think they did this to please the many animal lovers out there.... World War Z made a reference of a croc that has been eaten by the undead...

Just playing devil's advocate. There are many theories about zombies, reason why is because really "no one" knows the true classification zombie. I hate to be the reality check, but I hope in saying this might give an understanding of disagreements to anyone's theory of what a zombie is when it comes to debates. Now, food for thought, human's use more of their sense of sight more than any other sense. Mostly because our eye sight is more refined than any other sense do to placement of our eyes and their design. If a zombie had the same electric pulses as a living, breathing, person but no higher brain function then that would be a pretty good reason why the sense of smell and etc are more fine tuned or amplified. A good example is if someone were blind their other senses make up for the loss of sight.
