Train As You Fight

Just a few notes, but I may expand later.

At least a couple times a month, you should work in a "Train as you fight" workout. Just like it sounds, "train as you fight" means simulating the conditions you'll face in a real-life situation. Here are a few examples:

Try running with your Bug Out Bag on your back. Step it up by wearing all of your gear (BDUs, boots, armor, gloves, water and food).
This is also a great way to test your gear and make sure you can handle everything you plan to carry.

Run in a wide variety of terrain. Running around a track, is good for endurance, but not very practical in a zombie infestation.
Run through town, without a planned route. Duck into alleyways, run between buildings, and even jump fences, guardrails, etc.

Join a martial arts or boxing club, just to get a little melee type combat. (I'm not advocating using martial arts against zombies)

Instead of lifting weights, lift everyday objects that you will use/need after the zombie apocalypse. Water jugs, tires, cement blocks, etc.

It may sound silly, but go to a playground, just before dusk (there won't be many people, parks close just after dusk). Run, jump, climb, and practice quick direction changes and falling/jumping off of various heights.

I just wanted to add that if your body isn't used to working out, take it slow. The first few weeks should be simple all-around fitness excercises as described in the article, 3-4 days a week and take the other days off. I have been working out a good 4 years solid everyday for 3 hours and I dont need to take days off at the level of fitness im at, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt. Dont exaust yourself, take it slow and gradually work your way up. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

yeah while we're thinking up ideas- if you can get access to a punchbag, then they are really good training, and this is similar to the idea of lifting everday objects... Haven't tried it yet on mine, but perhaps you could even use a blunt melee weapon like a bat on it.... though that might just be a poor idea... but a better plan would be chopping wood... oh and also try pulling yourself up on walls etc- when you are running from the Z's and a wall is in your way you will be glad you were prepared! Yea you are right..In martial arts the best way to train yourself is by sparring. It only strengthens the muscles ur using when fighting...It doesn't grow you additional muscles what might slow you down...Well i think it would be better if you but about 20-30 kg more into the bag than your bag will weight...Cause when z day begins you will have to be able to move for hours without the bag slowing you down, and this would help you ALOT..
Boxing or other martial art would really help an person, cause if you train for 1 or more years, than you will be able to evade zombies like it's childes play....But could anyone give me an link where i could order weights which i can like but on my hands and on my stomach and so on..So i would be able to train myself even when im walking?

When I get my LE body armor and the like I'll be doing laps on my property in it so I can adjust it and my other gear so it's comfortable+body armor can be taxing on your running ability, hence cop's goofy run.
