Not kill the Zed's if you have a chance. You might as well become one. You have to kill them to survive and farm or gather food. The less of them the more of a chance there will be to survive. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

If you’re not prepared to fight, then each skin job you kill increases your likelihood of getting bitten or eaten 10% (compounded); I want to kill them all, and even I won’t be fighting for the first 48 hours (until I’ve regrouped and geared up for specifically that).
Sorry guys, but cormacr9 has the right idea (no matter how much I may not like it)…

I will be fighting from day one. I will also be running at the same time. odds are, I will be fighting and running until I am either in a position to stop running and just fight, or until I cannot keep running and are forced to fight.

Mostly, I will be fighting the zombies from day one until either them or me is gone.

i can't believe that anyone would actually expect to just hide out while the problem went away.

eradication is the only way.
once i had a safe base of operation, my next task is DEFINITELY to keep eliminating the threat. regular patrols, organized search and destroy parties, LOTS of communication.

otherwise we're just waiting for the inevitable.

one question - lots of people seem to be secure in the idea of a .22 rimfire for head shots, at least out to 50 yards. can any of you guys solidly confirm the plausibility here? i've heard of plenty using .22LR for coyotes, slaughtering pigs, and things like that. plenty more still say that the .22 has been used for sniping. i think they may actually mean the .223 ... but if a .22LR rimfire would do the job, that'd be a great, cheap elimination tool. what do you guys think?

if one only had a .22 rimfire rifle, /could/ it actually do the job, if only head shots are concerned? daveball? reddson? jack? you guys seem to have the most informed responses here, so i value your input.

Thing is, I won't be using rim fire rounds. they are impossible to reload without very specific equipment.

Yeah, they're cheap and 50 yards is a short distance relatively speaking, but unless you have a really large supply, you will run out sooner or later. :P meh.

I can’t speak about the advisability of using .22’s, but I can comment on this.
Your plan assumes that:
1. You CAN find a safehouse;
2. You can find weaps;
3. Your technological advantage over the skin jobs is great enough to overcome their numerical superiority.
4. That whatever caused the condition is permanent, fixed, and will not cause them to self destruct.

The three original assumptions are simply inappropriate; ¿What do you do if your safehouse is barely able to be held itself? ¿If you can’t find a gun, or very limited ammo? ¿If there’s a million skin jobs, and you, alone, have only a half-million rounds of ammo?
Again, if you’re not prepared to fight, hunker down. Otherwise you’re going to die. If you’re lucky…
You’re fourth assumption, Max BROOKES notwithstanding, however, was not so inappropriate; While I hope that whatever created the problem will have a ‘suicide point’ (that is the disease that turns them will eventually kill them fully dead), I’m not betting my life on it.

I would only actively hunt if I was well prepared (decent weapon, plenty of ammo, safehouse, help available, etc). Otherwise, it would be suicide. Otherwise, I would fight out of self defense while running or cornered. Do you find this valuable?

is there something in my statement that was overtly ignorant, or are you just looking for a good time, REDDSON?

my only assumption was that my readers were literate.. perhaps that was inappropriate.

i didn't even say "safe house". i said "safe base of operations"

safe base of operations- a safe place, weapons, lots of people, plenty of supplies, and a location that has been successfully fortified.

there wasn't anything in my statement to even pick at, but you certainly tried. i commend you.

JACK -

thanks answering my question- i was not aware that the .22 would pose a problem when it came to reloading, but it makes sense, since the egde gets crimped by the hammer when used.

kaikelx-

i know which thread you're talking about, and i'd already looked through it before asking this question.

that thread only has a few entries, and none of them actually say much about penetration, but thanks anyway.

take my boots, REDDSON. fxck it.

obviously you're the only one here who knows what your'e talking about any how, and can openly assume we don't.

BOOTS!

BOOTS FOR FREE!

what ever. you miss quoted me, and then wasted your time typing up assumptions. good for you. have a biscuit.

you're a MOD, and you do a decent job, but is it really worth your time to actually make up things to pick at? it's pretty sad, especially when i was largely agreeing with you, you still try to disagree with me.

take the fxcking BOOTS.
