I once thought the idea of women raping men was a "joke"; Now, nothing's funny.

Likely? Not on your life. Impossible? Not on mine.

I really don't think zombies could exist.
The brain needs blood, oxygen and nutrients to function. Even the most basic functions need resources.
Whatever this virus does, someone better have a pretty elaborate explanation.

"Whatever this virus does, someone better have a pretty elaborate explanation."
Very simple explaiantion: Ignore Max BROOKES. If it happens, it will be a normal type of virus, but cause the entire upper brain to be destroyed.
And such a virii do eist, very rarely, in nature: One example is Ebola Zaire.

With the stuff dabbled in without our knowledge, sure, it's possible for an outbreak to happen. When you consider the popularity of the US now world wide, and that a massive attack of the US in force is very difficult (you have to cross an ocean on either side, get around sat surveillance to move troops, and even if you get a foothold somewhere - 1 in every 3 homes has a gun) it makes sense that someone would like to engineer a disease that could essentially carry out your war for you.

As for needing blood, oxygen and nutrients - A zombie doesn't have to be a re-animated corpse. The zombie could still be alive (28 days later, I am Legend). If you have a disease that effects the brain and can essentially turn a person into a violent animal that can't be rationalized with, you have your problem.

I don't think there are zombies roaming around now biding their time, and I'm not loosing sleep over the possibility. I'm confident with my plan if I need it, but I'm not holding my breath.

True about ragers, except for the 30 second incubation period. But if you think about it, ragers that stay normal for a few hours or days can take it almost anywhere, imagine the water system getting contaminated somehow (unlikely, but possible)

I am now officially paranoid

I am going to guess that some sorta Scientist is going to accidently get the virus that turns to people into zombies. Either that or Rabies evolves to a much worse virus.

I mean that Zombies are defined as reanimated corpses. I think that no Virus could do that. I mean, the only Virus that can bypass the Immune System undetected is HIV I think that the closest thing we could get to a Zombie outbreak is a parasite infestation, that takes control of the host, causing it to bite people so that the parasite can get inside that body and lay its eggs (Primeval, anyone?).

Its unlikely that something similar to Rage or Solanum or LyssaX or some terrorist remakes Ebola and Maudberg.

Its unlikely a hurricaine will hit your place, even if you live in Florida/Lousiana. Its unlikely a volcano will blow up under your seat. Its unlikely your car will be in an accident. Do you not want to be ready?

Its unlikely an airplane would crash. Yet airlines spend money on safety and evacuation and emergency equipment. Its unlikely a Nuclear exchange would occur, but the US and Soviet Union spent untold billions, perhaps even trillions, on bunkers, nuclear 'Deterrents', defense systesms, missles, bombers, silos, early warning systems, and other shit.

Fine. Don't be prepared. I'll be the first one to loot your stuff.

A zombie would attack any living thing in an attempt to spread the virus. It wouldn't care if it was human or rat. If it has a heartbeat it will go after it. Do you find this valuable?

or it is some type of fungus that uses the persons body as a frame (if youve seen the movie the bone snatcher), and the person is dead. this wouldn't explain why only head shots killed them though Do you find this valuable?

cracked.com did a good job of giving plausible reasons (with sources mind you) how Z-day could occur.

http://www.cracked.com/article_15643_p5.html

Some of what they say is a bit of a stretch, but it does give me a reason to keep the AR-15 cleaned and zeroed.
