I would...

1.Where would you go? (school, prison, stay home, ect)
2.What stores do you hit? (medical supplies first, food first, weapons first )
3.Who to take?( family and friends, no one, everyone)
4.How do you plan to live long term

Well seeing as i live less then 3 minutes away from a Walmart AND less than 1 minute from the Walmart is National Guard base I think i'm pretty comfortably set for Z-day. First thing is first I would grab all weapons from my house and probably grab a decent sword from my dads collection just in case melee combat ensues. (probably wouldn't need it given i alone own 3 shotguns + ammo, 2 handguns, and small rifle). So after weapons were gathered, the family would be loaded into the truck and I would go across the street to the 27 year old neighbors because he owns a few assault rifles and 2 ak-47's. After our familys and weapons were gathered we would rush to the national guard base and further our weapons collection as well as add to ammunition. We would also commandeer 4 or 5 armored transport vehicles plus extra fuel.

After we stocked up on weapons we would enter the walmart heavily armed and take non-perishable food and water as well as a few other bare minimum supplies for survival. Might also go by the hunting dept. and pick up some more weapons and ammunition. After supplies were gathered, close friends would be picked up within the city. After we have everyone of importance in the city, we would drive towards Lewisville and pick up my aunt, cousins, girlfriend, as well as more friends there. All in all we would have about 30 or less people and 5 trucks full of survival supplies and fuel.

After all persons of interest were in the convoy we would begin the trek to white sands, New Mexico stopping along the way to raid gas stations for fuel and more food and water. Once at white sands we proceed to the more prominent of millitary bases there and set up camp with locals who have taken refuge.

Now all of that is by day one..during day two we would go through sorrounding towns and stores to further scavage for supplies and any people of special interest (doctors or skilled workers). Possibly pick up excess pharmaceutical supplies at doctors direction. After full sweep of the surrouding area is complete we would return to the base and begin to sort out and organize all available equipment. After a full area sweep of the base all things useful for defense would be collected and through the surrounding area booby traps would be laid as well as planting simple surveilance equipment. Home made bombs, land mines, barbed wire, light vehicle barricades would be made throughout the day as well as decent range surveilance camera network set up with radioshack signal boosters added to camera to enhance ranges thus ending day 2.

At dawn of day 3 all people would be assigned specific jobs within the community. Those with exceptional or ex-millitary skill with weapons would be assigned guard shifts with the best shooters on roatation with high caliber sniper rifles which could be found at the reserve base or the white sands base. Women and children would be placed in the most secure rooms and would be given tasks such as working indoor gardens for long term food (florescent lights providing needed uv light). Water being needed, we would create a system to conserve the water we had and begin to brainstorm ways to collect as easily as possible. Begin final structural integrity checks and reinforcemnts to the actual buildings. Assign sniper and lookout posts. Go through practice scenarios and drills.

End of day 3

Day 4- Dawn of Zombie Invasion

If all goes well, we should survive the first day with no real problems. Shift rotations should have been made to where each scout and shooter gets optimum rest time as the guards shoudl be well equipped to take out ramining zombies before any real threat can be made towards main base.

If it would be 72 hours before an outbreak than i don't think that the guards at the national guard base will give you those weapons and i don't think they will belive that some zombies will attack in 72 hours(It might be the same problem with ur family and your family might just be useless against zombies, and theyd be in the way...which could end FATAL for all of you.) ....So say bye bye to our armored trucks and extra ammonition....And if you go to stores than you have to BUY the things not just take em and if you want alot of supplies than you need ALOT of money same thing for the medicine (The same problem with the national guard base..Although you can buy some stuff)
1.Day.
First IF i knew that there is 3 days to zombie attack than i would start to armor my my car....Than i would but ready my clothes and all other things i need from my home...Than i will go to the store and buy some supplies ONLY for 5 days cause if the zombies attack there won't be any people in the stores so it will be OK...
2.Day
I will take my friends and than buy some more supplies , just in case and buy some more equipment i can use against zombies...
3.Day
We will continue to build the barricades and than i could call all the friends friends i can get along with (Although they might not belive me i will say that tomorrow you can leave if there aren't any zombies outside) and we will continue to build the barricades and buy some more supplies, equipment and some SEEDS so in the worst case of scenario we can build an farm...
4.Day
There is an chance that people from my neighborhood will come and ask for me yo take them in (Cause they could see us working on barricades they will think its safer here and i will ask what they can do and if i need people like them i will let them in and lead them to their work place...And after that the zombies attack and guards will fight and so on.

Dude did you even read the scenario?

It states that the millitary is nowhere to be found....so that's assuming they're nowhere in town and the base is deserted... if they're all at the base, yes that does put a damper on the plan, but we would have decent armaments to start off with from my own house and my neighbors.

Again i'm working on the scenario given...if it was a more realistic scenario where everyone else was clueless the plan would drastically change although it would still be desireable to go to some place like white sands because its a large expanse of land where you can see things coming from far away.
