every good baricade should have at least one fall back position
if at all possible there should be some kind of escape plan
There should also be traps to if nothing else they should slow the zombies down

Id make 2 barricades if they would destroy the first and go to the second barricade than i would have enough time to ready my stuff and i would escape through an secret passage i left my barricade and while their destroying my second barricade i'm making my escape taking my everybody with me...and i would run to my second hideout (which is an tree house)..And that place would last until we would find an other hideout.. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. The night of the living dead movie the people when they lost the living room they ran to the basement

Lets just hope some crazy survivers don't shoot us the next day

Iregardless how “perfectly” you plan, the skin jobs WILL overrun at least your outmost perimeter. Don’t even bother MANNING this one, just rig it as a tripwire system; A way of know WHEN (not ‘IF’) they’ve come, and which direction (even how many, if possible). This is approximately a mile form your fortified positions.
The second line should be an entanglement system; Simple fences (perhaps even reinforced fences) to stall them (even 5 minutes is the difference between life and un-death, or perhaps being invited to dinner). This would only be a few yards beyond the tripwire.
An few more lines of boobytraps, anti-personnel mines, etc. should more than buy you enough time to get all residents back inside the wire, and rally the defenses. Depending on the size of the skin jobs, it might be enough in and of itself to kill them all off, or at least convince them to take on someone a lot less prepared (this assumes my theory that they retain animal-level instincts is true).

Instead of only using the initial barricade to resist the attack, use it to channel the attack. Direct them over a cliff or into a pit. That would give you time and disable many of them. Improvised tangle foot of tires bolted together to slow down the attack, little barrier to a vehicle escape. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I like your ideals I also saw a movie called doomed it was about zombies on a remote island like the show SURVIVOR

if there is an option for the zombies they may not ter down fences and walls but walk around so maybe a kind of maze like the mirror mazes would keep them busy it is also possible that a zombie may not reconise that the image in the mirror is them but think it is another zombie
