Not Bad.....

Only one problem the chain link fence, good against a couple of zeds. But if there are a crap load the amount of force from all of them may be enough to take down the fence. I an in college for engineering, if you want the most cost effective method use the same set up as above an in place of the the chain link use sheets of corrugated metal and shore up the posts that hold up the fence to give them greater lateral force ( the side to side strength of something). This in turn might cost a little more but it is a very good investment. If you have the ability to get alot of concrete then use it along with rebar to make a hell of a good wall.

Hope this helps.

I’d put a slight berm between the two fencelines (that should take care of Mono’s issue, as well as giving the defenders a good place to defend against hordes of skinjobs trying to get in), plus access corridors between the fencelines (for servicing land mines beyond the berm), then fill the cavity between them with constinina wire, sharpened poles, and every sort of razor edged junk. Then big a ditch just beyond the wire (again, filled with razor edged junk), with a slight berm (roughly 2-4½’) just beyond that- That way it looks like relatively level ground until you’re IN the ditch, getting chopped to pieces.
There’s really no need for greenhouses, unless it’s for small, specific-environment crops (bananas, for example). Your bulk grains can be grown beyond the wire (and if you ‘must’ grow it in the wire, it’s all over and you will NEVER be able to defend it at all, let alone all of it.
¿Have you considered launching a lighter-than-aircraft (blimp, balloon, or zeppelin) for long-distance observation and radio communication? If I had a chance to put one up, I would. (I doubt I’d have such a platform to begin with, but it’s never impossible.)

I most say the addition of a recreational place in the fortification can prove to be the best thing for the metal health of everyone. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

For the fence, I recommend a concrete wall.

It's extremely cheap, sets completely in 24 hours, and at 3 feet thick, it can stop bullets and protect from small explosions eg. Hand grenades. (I think.) And remember kiddies, if it can stop bullets, it can stop zombies.

you defeat the purpose of firearms with a concrete wall because every bullet that hits it creates a weak point eventually causing a breach. with a rod iron steel fence you can weld and re-weld to your hearts content. concrete is rendered useless once its broken.

??

Not everyone's going to shoot at the same spot. And I think the other fences would take too long + too much money to build. And, zombies don't have guns. The only bullets will be from the occasional raider, and at 3 feet it will be very difficult to breach.

Quick, I'm with Alicestar here; His rod fences can be up and in place in hours, and doesn't require the questionable reliabitly of chance.
Concrete's nice, if you can get it (iffy), and nobody bother's you until after it's all set and formed. Defiantely a "Later if we can" thing.

Hmm... I'm with Alicestar too, because I'm assuming I've got 24 hours of zombie-free and raider-free setup time for the concrete wall. Still, if I was to build it before hand, I'd have to choose concrete. Do you find this valuable?
