RE: Ideal Armor
Aug 18 2008, 2:54 AM EDT First of all, DragonSkin isn't really as effective as one might think. Under controlled conditions, it can stop a "few" AK-47 rounds, but in actuality, desert conditions loosen the tiles and things go downhill from there. The military also questioned buying it because it didnt offer level IV protection, which it apparently boasts. Now I don't believe in any "Z-day" and I have no idea where you base your information on, but you can go on to believe whatever you wish. I also wonder, how do you know so much about weapon abilities against "zombies", when there has never actually been a real scenario? Personally, I think that the moderators of this site are lazy fat asses or die hard screwby-ies that go on wikipedia for their site info. Please, take my advice to heart, and stop wasting precious years of your life on an IMPOSSIBLE scenario. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I get to sit on my ass in the office letting electrons make me money, play on web, and let my mind enjoy itself on flights of macabre fancy here on zombie Wiki. I enjoy to write, and enjoy these interesting senarios and mind plays where one has to step out of the air conditioned norm, and into the blood and parts askew of Shooting to Live, Running to Fight. After a short bit the leetspeek and publik edumushkashun spelink gets to a guy, but WTF?, they participate and bother to try and add content. Bitching about the "unreality" of Zombies and Unkle Zed is like pissing on Santa's boots.. it just 'ain'ta kule". My Dragon Skin gear had held up pretty damn well while I was an FAC (Fat Assed Contractor) working in places where little water and threat of flying 7.62 kisses were a reality. Anything I propose as "I done it" is something that went down while I was in my boots or shoes.. Hoping that a bit of mean_old_man "Hell it aint bullshit stories iff'n you done it!" would add to some of the fun of participation here. Participation, that interesting word that allows all of us to connect at at least the Zed level.. *Out* *EOM* 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Aug 18 2008, 1:57 PM EDT Alright, seems we have a debate here. I got where Skip got HIS data. ¿Claude, Smokey, where did you get yours? Personally, I’ll take personal experience over paper research 7 days a week, and twice on days ending in “Y”, BUT I’m willing to hear WHY other opinions crop up. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Aug 18 2008, 11:36 PM EDT I'm talking about body armor. I saw I am legend and that shit freaked me out... enough to get me thinking: what if something like that actually happened? But when I was in Afghan 07 my dragonskin tiles started to loosen and become less protective. IDK why it did that, but I am more confident that there should be a composite of tiles and placement and whatever. I would rather take the interceptor than spend my own cash on a product that might be defective and doesnt have the ratings correct. As for unce Zed I don't think there will be a dawn of the dead but i think there is a possibility of humans becoming infected with a virus that alters brain functions and hormones... somewhat like a z but not the same concept. Are you a Blackwater contractor Skip? Do you find this valuable? |

Smokey, oil and pipeliner
Aug 19 2008, 1:46 AM EDT Had to hire on some high speed shooter types as Security. Company by contract forbade us arms of any sort. Not sure that any one of we *did not* have the occasional BHP or Tok stuck in a boot or pack, inherited from the guy whom we were replacing. Did time in Eastern Africa, did some in Central, all over North, and some into the 'stans. Man has to know his limits, and mine is altitude about 6500 feet ASL. Can't breath well, can't work at all. Reduced fairly much to lowlands and coastal areas where Companies were putting in pipelining for crude, semi-finished product and gas transmission. We also took on several jobs working telecommunications towers. Could keep welding and fab crews busy during slack times, keep men paid. That is a totally separate set of sea stories sealing with that consortium of messes and personalities. After getting out of metals, oil rigging and construction, took my bush doctoring into the TIA world of working in Africa. Being "Doc" was easy money for basically waiting for the Team to come back shot to shit (if and when), set asses on the bird, take them to Capetown to friendly doctors. Got paid to play in some of the worlds most pretty, ugly, destitute, wonderful places on planet. if I ever have chance, retiring to SA would be a dream. :) *EOM* 0 out of 1 found this valuable.
