No suggestions... just what I think you should change.
Zombies shouldn't have super human senses. We are one in the same, just they are (most likely) going to be affected by a virus. Infact, I strongly believe that their sight is sub-human level.

Their eyes are going to be damaged, and will probably pick up on movements and shapes alone.

Their ears could be damaged, who knows.. this is the only aspect I believe has the potential to be a little better. No way to tell.

Their sense of smell should be exactly where ours is, if not lower.

OUR senses work because our brain and our thoughts pick up on what we recieve (sights, sounds, smells) and translates them to what we know. ZEDS should run PURELY on instinct, using only basic senses, but their motor skills should be at the same level we are at. Their cells are living and breathing... its a virus not a plague.

That was my point. The zombies are just modified humans. Anything else would be a voodoo zombie, which nobody believes in.So any vital organ shots would be,in fact, fatal to zombies.
ONLY HUMAN
dodge this.

Hearing vs. Sight debate

With the eyes/ears debate: as both are controlled by the brain (actually, all five senses are controlled by the brain...) any brain damage would affect all senses. However, with the incorporation of the zombie being unable to feel, see, taste, touch, or hear, I would imagine that smell, being based off of chemical reactions, or hearing, being based off of vibrations, would still be strong. "Super" hearing, in my opinion, would be most likely, as the cochlea (little dancing sausages in one's inner ear that determine detectable range of sound) would probably not decay as fast as the other senses.

Along with that, consider the stories where one is stricken blind and awakens a super sense of hearing. It could be that cutting off one sense causes others to open wider, using the old nervous pathways. (Along with this- having died, perhaps the neural pathways by which the brain transmits messages have all been erased, and new pathways can be formed. Using this train of thought, the base measures taken to live are all that the creature would require, so "move" and "eat" would literally be all the zombie knows how to do, so even though they have less brain cells, each cell is dediated to survival instincts.)

AS Serjius was saying anypart of the brain that is damaged will make it harder for the zombie to sense things. As each part of the brain controls a different thing, Most parts of the brain will lose function after the person dies and is resuected and the virus could potentially cause the senses to spread to the unused parts enhancing the zombies senses as well as having the extra neural pathways to utalize the extra brain capacity used by the basic senses. Also as a sensory part of the body decays the other senses will likely enhance as the brain nolonger processes incoming messages from that part of the body and since sight would go first then the other senses would highten. Last we dont know what all are the effects of the virus aside from the obvious, the virus may increase senses before they decay Do you find this valuable?

I agree with what ForsakenTheDay says, it also fits better with the classic zombie, they don't see well but can sense humans far away. Maybe zombies can sense human hormones? We can do that without knowing it, the zombies brains are less complicated so they might be able to do this... Do you find this valuable?
