Barbed/razor wire
Jul 8 2008, 9:17 AM EDT
I dont know why people say that barbed and razor wire are so good agaist zombies # 1 is that their both made tom make more pain than damage and zombies dont feel no pain #2 they both break at a certain point.

Yes, but they do cause SOME damage, and will slow them down somewhat. It's better than nothing, an a good suppliment to pre-existing defence structures.

It all depends on the type of wire, if I was to make a guess you were using concertina wire, or something similiar. There are other types of razor wire available in some locations that has been known to sever the limbs off small children.

Far more importantly- It’s an entanglement. You get caught up in that shit, and then I can kill you at leisure.Keep in mind that skin jobs can’t “plan” in the traditional sense; They might see a fellow skin job tangled up here or there and avoid that spot, but then just gets tangled up somewhere else. BTW- ¿Which prison did you say you worked at? Do you find this valuable? |

I not only see potential in Zombie Defense using Razor Wire/Barbed Wire but also to keep out those pesky Humans that decide to raid what's left. They may not work on the Dead but I bet they would deter other Living from climbing this wall.

Use a chain link fence, that way you can shoot through it.

And other Humans can shoot thorugh, as well as skin jobs climbing over.Chain link isn't bad to use, of course, but razor/barbed wire adds to it's effectiveness. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

barbed wire is good for deterring people, and can also be an effective means of communication. (some ranchers still use the fencing as telephone lines.) It's also quite strong, so, zombies might not be able to get through it so easily.Razor wire, however, is slightly different. It is stronger, lighter, and does much more damage. People who try to remove it with explosives will have a bit of trouble, and using one's bare hands is not good either. It will slow down zombies, somewhat, and give you a chance to react. Anyhow, for those of you who want to use it for defense against skin jobs and people, try to do what they did in WWI. In large open fields they make fences that were not especially easy to get through, making them easy targets for infantry and machine gunners. Do you find this valuable? |

Concertina wire will stop pretty much ANY land based vehicle. And as mentioned above, it tangles its victims up. It shouldn't be your only defense, but it is light and very effective at what it does.

"Concertina wire will stop pretty much ANY land based vehicle."Uh, no, about the only VEHICLES it will stop are two-wheeled, and not all of them. Razor/barbed wire is not intended to stop VEHICLES, and an enemy determined enough to use a vehicle to get through wire entanglements isn’t GOING to be stopped by- Well, ANYTHING, really. "Uh, no, about the only VEHICLES it will stop are two-wheeled, and not all of them.RPG-29, or other large rocket launcher, preferably tandem warhead to deal with rogue military/National Guard armored units. Or a very, very big Gattling Gun. And DU shells with alternating Tungsten Saboted rounds. I mentioned big right? Think of the ones on the A-10. Those obliterate tanks with their incredible 4200 rounds per minute, and amazing 80% or greater accuracy. And they would be handy against the occaisional angry starving refugee army willing to take your survivalist fortress by force. And especially bandits. Course, these are pretty illegal around the US. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Uh, no, about the only VEHICLES it will stop are two-wheeled, and not all of them.Ive seen a 5 ton stopped by concertina wire and Ive seen an 1114 stopped by concertina wire. Ive heard more than once about Bradley IFV's stopped by concertina wire. its not a physical barrier, it entangles in the axle and will break it. Im iffy about it stopping a tank or tracked vehicle, but I know it will, or at least disable, pretty much any wheeled vehicle. Do you find this valuable? |

I find that surprising. Unless, of course, it was more the uprights holding the wire in place than the wire stopping the vehicles…

I doubt razor wire would cut it or even seriously scratch up the axels quickly enough to stop a vehicle before it broke through that line of defense Do you find this valuable? |

All I can figure is that razor wire is best used against 'infantry' (people).

After that, I am recalcitrant to call ANYBODY a liar unless I can prove, categorically, that they are. I have never seen wire anything stop a vehicle. He may have done exactly that. wire antimatter, yes, i just can't see it happening, sorry bout that man. It would be hot though, id be a tad amazed, like the ranchers who couldn't believe this stringy wire could stop a massive raging bull. But vehicles don't feel pain. But it would be amazing to see it happen anyways. Do you find this valuable? |
