Symbology of Zombie movies
Jul 29 2008, 5:04 AM EDT what do you think the symbols are in dawn of the dead? 28 days later? land of the dead? well this is the thread to find out! this weeks movie in question: 28 days later Now this is kind of an unusual zombie flick because they aren't even zombies at all. Its kind of obvious but only AFTER you know. i didn't know the first time but only when i watched 28weeks later with directors commentary did i realize that they aren't "undead" although the concept is much the same. both have a biting fetish, both seem to "come back to life". one just looks like it and the others ARE coming back to life. so its basically the same thing only they can run (and some undead can run too so this is irrelevant either way) and they can't take as much damage. to start us up on this closer look at psuedo-zombies in this movie i will talk about the soldiers that jim and selina meet in the second half of the movie. during the first night after they meet the soldiers they have an omelet and everyone is excited about having eggs again i think that is a metaphor for how they expected their relationship to be great but it turned out that the eggs were bad, which symbolizes how their relationship sours after the first day, and that the cook had tried to cover the taste up with salt, which is the leader not telling them what he was planning to do with the girls. any other thoughts? Do you find this valuable? |
