I think the best vehicle will be a four-wheeler or a tank. 2  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

also on a four wheeler you can install a cage to help with the open problem. Do you find this valuable?

"its not very fast "
That is where you are WRONG

Modern tanks are fast, and on average they can go 20-30 MPH. The M1 Abrams can go 60MPH+

They may not be the fastest thing on the roads, but they are faster then you.

I don't know, but the former soviet union has thousands of them lying around. Heck, Europe has so many tanks it's not even funny. If you find one abandoned, and it's still in working order, would you pass up that opportunity? Do you find this valuable?

People in Europe know how to drive tanks if they have them.

And I don't need a tank in my neck of the woods. simply not the right king of geography.

I was simply pointing out that tanks are not slow.

The best vehicle to kill skin jobs is the one you build yourself; The best vehicle to ESCAPE skin jobs is the first one you can get your hands on. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I think that what he is trying to say is, the vehicles have their advantages and disadvantages. But when it comes down to it, you need something with unlimited mileage... like a kazoo! Do you find this valuable?

Depends on what you are doing. Recon, 4-wheeler al the way. Ability to pack a few things. On-off road abilities, generaly 100 mile range per tank of gas. Unless its a sport quad like a Yamaha raptor. My Can Am Renegade 800 has about a 100 mile range and does almost 80mph. not bad for a 4x4 quad. Assault, tank, hands down. When you run out of bullets, you still have 1500 hp 60 ton tank that can roll over anything. But if this is an issue of what we have on hand, quad it is. Although there is a training center about 20 miles from my house and they have about 100 fully active M-1s they keep there for training. And yes I can drive a tank. Do you find this valuable?

Now, speaking for myself, as I know I can do so…
A tank get horrible fuel mileage, and while they have excellent armor and weaps highly applicable to conventional warfare, are really quite inadequate to killing massive hordes of unarmored (or lightly armored) humanoids (skin jobs or otherwise).
Four wheels get better gas mileage, but that’s about it. Inadequate armor (if any), NO integrated weaps, and you may or may not be able to drive over them.
Ergo: During escape and evasion, grab what you can, and drive it like you stole (‘cause you probably did).
Once some semblance of stability returns and you have the time to do so, custom-build your own (using parts off that tank and the four-by-four, if you got them).

I prefer a Volkswagen... Light, easy to maintain, great gas millage, closed cabin, lots of room for it's small size, it's durable, it can also float in water, it has a great classic look, and did I mention is a great gas millage? 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

yes. they can. :D

The construction makes it pretty much like a bubble. water cannot get in, and the places where it can, it comes in real slow. plenty of time for you to take a deep breath, relax, and think about your next move. Whether or not you want to abandon ship quite yet and what you will take with you.

Heck, if you're lucky enough, you could end up floating back to land and drive off. :P

A bit unconventional, but if you ever get your hands on one, it is nice to know that you won't sink right then and there like with many vehicles.

another bonus for the VW...
The engine is placed at the rear so the risk of damaging it is significantly less when you accidently/intentionally ram into things

And it's extremely light construction makes it so if it gets stuck, you can lift it up and move it. (if you have more then one person and the car isn't too heavily weighed down. 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

My version of a perfect combat vehicle for zombies is a dependable 4-wheel drive with a "good" brush guard made out of solid steel and hand welded and attached to the vehicle's frame not that bent tubular metal crap that jc whitney sells. What your trying to protect is your radiator and your lights. Why would armor matter against zombies, has anybody ever tried to smash out a window on a vehicle recently...I've seen them deflect bullets and baseball bats...the glass might chip but it isn't going to explode like you see on the movies. And as far as tanks go...do you have any bridges that you plan to cross because weight is a big factor on older bridges and besides that tanks do not go as well as people seem to think. If armor is your preference you should watch some history channel world war 2 footage.A tracked vehicle will get stuck in ice, snow, clay mud,not to mention they won't knock trees down much bigger around than 6 inches they just run up on them and then flip over. 1  out of 1 found this valuable.
