Dont just think that the hammer in your hand is a weapon... If you think correctly and pack what is needed all sorts of things can be multi-purpose and your backpack will be alot lighter.
FIREMAKING is a good skill to have, what happens once your lighter runs out or the matches become all wet? Firemaking can be quite useful.

Though usually only different branches of the military teach it ( or the Mob) SURVEILANCE can be quite useful... not much your eyes have in advantage over theirs... wouldnt it be a better sight, more cover and a greater view up in a tree where it is also easy to see for hundreds of metres around?
If you can see a zombie... good chance that they can see you too. Do you find this valuable?
