What is all this mano-a-mano BS
Aug 19 2008, 8:04 AM EDT
This all sounds like we would be fighting an honorable war against human opponents. We are not, this is a war of extermination. When you are trying to exterminate something you don't go hand to hand, you try for as many as possible with as little effort as possible on your part. You do not kill a colony of fire ants by stepping on them one at a time.

Concentrate them and destroy them in mass. Lure a mob down an alley and use a steam roller, trip them over the edge of a tall building, trap them in a building and burn it down. Hand to hand is the very last thing to do.

To an extent, I agree… I just don’t want to use a nuke to do it, as the city may be useful afterwards (even if the reconstruction takes generations).
But ya- Hand-to-hand=Skin Job recruiting program.

Those foolish enough to wish to try anything bring themselves or Teammates in close contact with virus carriers will eventually end up food, or walking dead themselves.

Object, now that we survivors have collected wits and lives, is to avoid close proximity to those *things* that will shed and 'give the gift' to the Living.

Those who foolishly wish to engage them willingly are going to end up as bio-fuel matter or as parts leftover after Unkle Zed eats their tender parts.

Knowing, practicing and being a weapons free, or gunpowderless, fighter is always a useful tool for physical conditioning and as noted working contact with an opponent who feels pain and can be "shut down".

Limited to no contact sans protective gear is what we at FEO give out as a Standing Order.

"Shikyo-Jutsu, the superior martial art!"
Your basis for this claim?

Although i do agree with you, you dont want to be caught thinking about the big picture when youre faced with a zed in your face. These tactics could be useful in close quarters combat. I think what theyre trying to say is being prepared for small group combat is essential to survival. You should be prepared to destroy the enemy while youre planning these mass exterminations. That said i do agree with you, the focus should be on finding ways to destroy yhem en masse rather than one at at a time. Do you find this valuable?

... You have no sense of humor at all...

"Shikyo-Jutsu" is translated literally from Japanese as "Death art"

My post being directly after Andering, it was intended to contrast what he said.

Andering said: "Hand-to-hand=Skin Job recruiting program"

I say: "Shikyo-Jutsu, the superior martial art!"

Assemble the pieces from there. You should be able to assemble it.

Hint: There is not such thing as "Shikyo-Jutsu" as far as I know...

Yeah... that is why planning is essential.

Kill zombies from a safe distance, make sure you are well out of reach of any zombie, and make sure you are in a position where a zombie can sneak up on you without you knowing.

I still like my idea of leading then into someplace like death valley and turn them all into zombie jerky. With no water content in the body seems to me that they couldn't walk. Do you find this valuable?

Uh, a nice line of polearms is alot more ammunition conservative. You can always have an M16 slinged on your back holster if things get too hairy to your halberds, but every round saved can kill another bandit

And when your trying to escape from like, a city, firing a firearm is like ringing a large bell and screaming DINNER IS READY! because you won't have enough ammo to kill really big mobs while mobile.

"remember our greatest weapon against the undead is our intelligence. lets not resort to fighting on thier level."
The trouble is that may of our race are already below the level of the undead. Look at the looting goes on in a major disaster. Our intelligence will keep us human, but we must be ready to fight any enemy any way we have to, and try not become them, or like them.

Remember, zeds won't be our only problems. Other humans will be stupid enough to fight you and why waste a perfectly good round that would take out a zombie from a beautiful distance? Some hand-to-hand with zombies might be tolerable. but only if it's one on one and you bump into one in route to wherever the hell you thought was so important to risk being on foot and not have some advanced visual of the area. It's called scouting and we do have machines for that..

Shikyo-Jutsu, huh? Interesting... It's like what I was saying to someone earlier. We need more cults. It's called survival of the fittest. Killing off morons in large quantities, hell yeah! I think that would solve a lot of today's food shortages, sadly. I like the story of the monkey king, brings new meaning to speak softly and carry a big stick.
