Scaffolds.
Aug 24 2008, 8:00 PM EDT I bequeath to each and every one of you a building, as big as you want and built of what ever material you want, but crippled with the LARGE, EASILY BROKEN windows skin jobs will probably break through without even meaning to, and as much scaffolding as you request. YOUR JOB: To take the scaffolding, WITHOUT CUTTING A SINGLE PIPE, to seal up the building and make it reasonably secure in preparation for a larger rebuild or rescue operation. Begin. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Scaffolds.
Aug 24 2008, 8:04 PM EDT Additioanl Info; You can not take parts of one scaffold and use them in other sections (like ordering 100 million storries worth of scaffolds to create a metal pipe stockade). Do you find this valuable? |

Send a few truckloads of bamboo...
Aug 24 2008, 8:11 PM EDT While in Far East watched as construction workers built earthquake proof, all but indestructible scaffolding made of large diameter natural bamboo. Keeping zombies out will take some engineering, the Big However would be to build maze-like obstructions in the scaffolding, known to humans that need to use it, but unwalkable to the shamblers and slow movers. Bamboo is naturally weather resistant, almost break proof under most normal circumstances, and will last years in place. Tied with construction wire or more traditional ropes, natural scaffolding can be rebuilt, moved and changed quickly as situations dictate. *EOM* Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Send a few truckloads of bamboo...
Sep 4 2008, 3:08 PM EDT I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed. Here’s an idea: Wrap the exterior of your building with two stories worth of scaffolds, then wire tie broken pipes, 2×4’s, whatever is around to the scaffolds themselves to create a gridwork, and overlay that with fencing (cyclone or cattle). I really thought y’all would create something even MORE impressive, though… ¿What happened? Do you find this valuable? |

AJR, for us lack of large buildings to protect as such
Sep 4 2008, 3:19 PM EDT Somewhat out of experience for our folks. That much connectable steel could/would be assigned other duties other than static defenses. Certainly don't argue in an urban/suburban environment that equipment could be used to build as you describe, and to decent effect. Remember however, that what makes a hard entry can also make for a tough escape. Consider for 'Fort Apache", having charges on the steel to blow a quick hole for you and yours to scoot out of.. *EOM* Do you find this valuable? |

The challenge is still open...
Sep 19 2008, 10:14 PM EDT Do NONE of you have exprience with scaffolds of any sort? Even walking by a construction site? Do you find this valuable? |
