ok well i know max brooks book was a joke (hilarious) but if you think about it its not that bad....they will probably have 4-6 weeks supply of food for about 8-10 workers...so if its not rotten by the time u get there thats a plus...and just mainly its in the middle of nowhere...dock your sailboat to the side...try not to light to many matches and i cant see a problem with it...just bring wind turbines or solar panels whatever u can do for energy....and the ocasional land raid...but if you dont have boat experience like over half of the people here....dont try it.. Do you find this valuable?

As a Coastie IRL, "over half of you" do NOT have the exprience and training to make a maritime solution work.
You can GET the training and exprience, and start by printing that page out and studying it till your eyes bleed, THEN hooking up with a real working boat crew (I recommaneed salvers, fishermen, etc) and working a baot of your own.
Do you find this valuable?

"salvagers."
No. Salvers.
And yes- They are professional salvage experts.

But the proper term IS salver. (No, I don't know why, any more than why it's called the bow and stern, rather than nose and tail, or front and rear, or- whatever).
Do you find this valuable?
