Eberstock?
Sep 21 2008, 12:46 AM EDT
So i have been considering a bag that will accommodate gear and weaponry and i came across the eberstock series which includes the gunslinger. Basically they have a built in gun carrier. Does anyone have any information on the reliability or durability, hell even if a gun carrying backpack would be needed?

Good place for a spare. Ready use would call for something more accessible. Good reviews on the 'net http://www.eberlestock.com/Gunslinger%20M%20Series.htm another option http://www.kifaru.net/MGptman.htm http://www.snipercountry.com/InReviews/KifaruPacks.asp it looks a bit faster to get the rifle in operation than the Eberlestock. Slung or in my hands.Primary weapon, for most part *a* rifle, is going to be in quick ready position and not on my back. As byates says, it would be a good place for a spare if you've got one and need to carry it. My bag is a hydropack and gear carrier. Can't see adding extra weight for *my use*. Won't say that the bag isn't a good idea, just not one in my thoughts of post-Zed days when a man or woman HAS to be ready in that nano-second for whatever pops up. *EOM* Do you find this valuable? |

those backpacks look nice but are expensive, wat ya can do instead of spending alot is get a cheaper bag about the same size and go out and buy a floppy gun case and sew it in the back pack. that way you'll save some moneys making your kit which you can spend on other supplies for it.

I use an old ALICE pack myself. It’s one of the Mountain types. We use to use the bigger ones so that we could carry the targeting system for our Dragon in them. But now that I don’t have the sites any more, just means more room for my gear. It’s old, it’s mangy, but it’s reliable. Have had it for just about 20 years now and it’s still working like it did on day one. SkipNChurch has the right idea. Slung or in my hands. Rhodesian (sp) arms is how we carried our weapons when on patrol. That or we stuck the pistol grip into the front of our web belts so it looked like we were carrying them. At least to Gunny it looked that way… Just make sure that whatever you get that it has good weight distribution and lower lumbar support. That means wide shoulder straps and a belt. Having quick release tabs to drop your pack in a second’s notice is also an added benny. ~Ironback Do you find this valuable? |
