HELP A 12 YEAR OLD SURVIVE D-DAY
Oct 3 2008, 4:42 PM EDT
Hello, i m 12 years old and what ur probably thinking is "fucking kids" well.... have you ever thought what to do during z-day? Teens will probably survive and the adults will too like in all movies, what about the kids?

What im saying is help me out a bit, give me some advise i noe i could look around the site but your advise would help me on specific things i have to do.

Give me an idea on ....
1) nice place to barricade
2) what i could do for weapons
3) where to go (safe places)
4) how i can communicate with others
5) what to travel in if by myself (bus, car, etc. *something easy)
6) Who to trust

*im sure u are all annoyed by reading this because its around the site, just answer the questions and maybe if z-day comes U will see another survivor)

*PS i live in a city nothing like new york, but jersey city New Jersey!)
Thanx

look dark, this entire site is dedicated to everyones survival of Z-Day, every tool here can be applied by kids and adults alike. what you need to do is adapt all of the advice on this site to your current situation. not everyone here is special forces or a puddle puppy (haha got you again Andy!!) so in a sense there in the same boat you are. just look around!! 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Yeah, what he said. But first, you can clean up your spelling so that we could more easily read what you're saying.

Ex: No more 'lol', 'ur', 'noe', or 'U'.

And, please try to get rid of your "I'll survive because I'm child!" attitude, It'll only get you killed, be it a natural disaster or a zombie epidemic.

Remember kids (who might or might not be reading this)! Respect your elders.

Or Andy'll PROBABLY shoot you, in the face, at point blank range, with a *insert shotgun of choice*. And then he WILL take your boots.

NOTE: I said PROBABLY. Not WILL.. But he WILL take your boots (when you die). What he'll do with 'em, the world may never know.

1. The whole piont of this site is to answer these questions so dont get lazy on us.
2. There are a few things that pretain to you specifically, dont try to use an automobile walking or riding a bike would be best. Find someone who is calm collected and has a goal that sounds like it might work and join thier group.

I'm impressed. The fact that you are twelve and interested in survivalism is great! You're already a step ahead of most twelve year olds.
In a Z-day situation you will have to realize that your mom, dad, and any adult could turn at any second, especially if they are trying to protect you.

But don't rule out your own abilites just because of your age. At twelve you should have no problem operating the tools you will need for building a strong barriacade against the zeds. If you haven't already learn to operate some basic tools (and power tools). Also look into the basics of building supplies. Learn how to board up windows, etc.

As for weapons, my cousins are about your age and are all avid hunters. Take a basic hunting safety course and invest in a decent rifle or shotgun. Obviously you will need an adult's help with purchasing the weapon. Also, never rule out baseball bats, blunt objects, hockey sticks, etc.

Now on to safe places. You will want to avoid anywhere that people generally congregate to. Malls, shopping centers, religous centers, discount stores, etc. These will all be full of plenty of zed food so it's where the zeds will go. Seek out remote locations such as wilderness areas, fields, etc. Generally these will have less zeds.

Cell phones and land line phones will be out. Don't count on the internet either. Short wave radio will be your best option for communication.

I don't know what the age is for a permit in NJ but LEARN TO DRIVE. This skill will be essential. Also, learn to drive both manual and automatic transmissions. Public transportation is a bad idea.

Trust is a big issue during any survival situation but is complicated by your age. You are at a much higher risk for something bad happening. There will be sick people out there trying to take advantage of you. Use your judgement and make it clear you aren't niave.

i gotta say
Rule number one
Get Fit
train to run at least 3/4 a mile NOT RUNNING but jogging any more is all benefit
2
learn to mountain bike and traverse all terrain enviroments
3
head north
i know a lot of people dont think about it
but Stenches blood dosnt flow so it will freeze hence causing slower mobility hence causing the Stench to actually freeze
dont stop in lower canada head as far north as you can
obviusly taking canned goods and such when availiable
oh and learn to farm in hard to farm enviroments such as alaska
then you should be decent

3Day, no enforcing new rules... The boards have never be sacrosant before, or Idda ben banned by now.

Ok, so Dark, first let's hear YOUR answers to your own questions. Who do YOU think is safe? Where do you THINK they would take you? How do you think they might get you there, and how might they call ahead to say they're comming?

Well, I'm a twelve year old too, and I have thought about this kind of stuff alot.
I live in NYC, not on the Island, but in Brooklyn. I won't disclose any more information, in case there is a stalker among us. As I'm sure we all know, getting a license here in NYC is a bitch( the whole may issue thing) so I'm ruling out firearms. On the off chance I find one, I'll be using something with a lower caliber--- I don't want to break off my arms, that would suck in a Zed world. Soo, I'll be using my favorite Baseball Bat, A lawnmower( take off everything except teh motor and blade, dig hole, dump mower, use a remote control from my RC plane( my dad figured out how to rig a RC plane to anything, ) and than mow Zed ass), skateboard, and my plastic armor pads.I'd hole up at a small place, likely my Condo, or my friends house, and try to hide there, avoiding zeds, and than raiding other houses for supplies, as well as the two major shopping avenues nearby(grocery store, anyone?) Generally, just try to keep a low profile, unless you have the firepower to p3n everything you see.

I won't, except as entertainment, and also as intimidation... seeing something being shredded into bits will scare the shit out of any raiders, so it will still be useful. You will need to use everything you have, so make the best of it.

Okay I guess I will have to get into this. I agree that remote control lawn mowers would be quite entertaining but they will never work for the resons below;
1. Lawn mowers dont have the ground clearance to actually get on top of a body.
2. Most lawn mowers dont have moterized wheels so remote control wont work unless its a riding mower in wich case riging up such a devise would be very hard.
3. The second it riped into a body the blades would be hopelessly bent and destroyed.

I think I could rig a mower that would work, wouldn't be a lawnmower though. Pick up a 40HP or bigger tractor, 3 or 4 bushhog type mowers using hydraulic motors to drive the blades, connect the bushhogs together side by side, hook-up to tractor hydraulics and drawbar. Power up and back over the Zeds, instant mulch. Get a tractor with a cab, ac and good tunes, might as well be comfy. Hydraulic so you could reverse the motors to clear blockages.

Wells, I don't own that kind of mower, the lawn is really small, so I just have a motorized push-mower. Maybe better to actually use the mower to mow, and hook my Key-chain Camera to the plane ( sure, only 20 pics or a minute of video, but I'm worried about the weight) and use that.
Now that I think about it, an nicely mown lawn would protect against bugs, snakes, and all sorts of annoying things.
Cj002, for #1, the lawn mower would be on the ground in a hole, and would shred those walking above them. For a idea of what I mean, play this game

and get the lawn mowers.

Hey… ¿Is that a crack at me?

Either way, Dark, let’s hear YOU answer at least the three questions I presented.
Generally, I’d roll the bones and say “Follow mom, then dad, then a teacher form school, cop, or firefighter…” But that really is a GUESS. See, I’d love to help you, but without literally walking your neighborhood, I really can’t get the lay of your territory, so I’d mostly be guessing…

Alright encon I get what youre saying sorry if I get a little condecneding about these things but you would still have prob. 3 to worry about and even if you did fix it witha stronger blade the hole would become filled with partially shredded remains that would block the blade from harming other zombies. Basically if you ever did rig it up it be an expensive one time thrill and a better opion might be to just plain dig a hole maybe stick some skewers at the bottom.

Meh, really the best thing is to hide, if you can't kill zombies.
But once I meet the NYC gun law requirements, and get in good with the police, I will have a handgun licence!
Maybe a rifle licence too, put my uncle's M1 Garand to some use, that thing is just rotting in his basement.

well really... for a 12 year old, holding a firearm may be a little extreme, recoil + perhaps a lil trigger happy may be more dangerous to urself and anyone else nearby.. finding a survivor better suited to protecting would be recommended, and any weapons given to them. Of course i refer to adults or teenagers depending on situation and whos around. barricading is never a good idea.... being on the move will probably be the best chance of survival. If travelling with the right people, and if enough people are present maybe a protected settlement could be built. At a young age such as 12, the only reccomendations i give to u is a really really long pole to push them away with...leave the killing to the pros 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?
