A map along with other suggestions
Oct 3 2008, 5:33 PM EDT I think a map of the town would be great...A lot of books have at least a map; It helps the reader with mental imaging....I think the map should be placed in a special gallery along with other art pertaining to the story as to me, it warrants some drawings or images for characters and other things based upon the author's descriptions of them. Also, What's the name of the Town, or is is a Backwater town that nobody knows the name of? Maybe we should come up with a name for it or just call it Backwater or something. In addition, I think some times, e.g, 5:54pm should be placed throughout the story so people could know when the events occured since in reality people would have watches and would check the time upon occasion. Any other suggestions for the story should be placed here....By the way, it's coming along really well...Let's keep up the good work!! :) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Oct 3 2008, 10:40 PM EDT I believe that the map idea is great albeit there might be some geographical flaws (not that Im aware of yet, I'll have to read the story again). Have you come up with anything so far, Map design wise? Because I was thinking of noting as many important structures and roads in the story into this thread but it does take alot of time and I don't want to do it if someones done it already, not to mention it would be very draining. I also wanted to create a map for the school as thats where my story is located and because I was thinking of incorporating it into my story, of course making sure its alright with the writers who use the school for their own story so everythings accurate. As for the town name maybe something that sounds normal but mysterious all the same like........Jericho lol Do you find this valuable? |

If it's Northern rural some names that are kinda neat are: Alpine Ridge Wolfensburg Saint Evanescence For Sourthern rural: Arkadysburg Kentsboro Millson Both sets were based off some name-styles I've noticed while heading through both the North and South, so....Also, this story's missing some slang...Even rural wannabe yuppies'll use some of the good ole slang from time to time. I don't have any current designs laid out for buildings although I might do character sketches based upon the character descriptions...I'll need to get some good drawing paper though so there aren't any notebook lines in the end results when they get scanned and directly sent to the site, but I first have to get that blasted printer to work.... Do you find this valuable? |

Oct 11 2008, 9:26 AM EDT I'm working on some maps for Ivener. Which is my city. I'm only going to make it include the parts my story is in. It would take too long to create a map that size. Do you find this valuable? |
