use renewable energy ONLY because if your fortress runs on gas or oil what happens if its gone to where you cant raid for more? and if you can make a closed hamster wheel human sized and sedate some zeds , then throw them in there and make a little box and put a hamster in there then, when the zeds wake up they keep making the wheel spin regardless by trying to get the hamster :P

".....No.Most of our engery sources aren't safe any way. Nuclear:Radiation and melt downs(but I still love it most) Coalsteam: Miner deaths getting the coal, boiler expolstion athough cool are deadly Hydro electric: Dam breakages and drowning people. Nothing is ever truly safe. As for slavery in general, its existed before written history. Just about all cultures have used it at some point. And how many slaves do you think killed their masters if when they had the chance? If anyone took the time to figure it out...I'm kinda interested in how many zombies it would take to pull off 1 megawatt. Do you find this valuable? |

If its miles away, how would you defend it against raiders? As to "who would put skin jobs in their fort any way ?" Probably someone with great confidence in themselves and little common sense. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

".....No.I, for one, posited that this was the ONLY reason to keep a skin job alive inside the wire. Of course, it should be kept alive inside an inner perimeter, and somehow PERMANENTLY attached to the wheel (I suggested at one point wrapping it’s arms around the center axle, handcuffed to the opposite side), along with some other precautions against escape… Do you find this valuable? |

I stand duly advised. Most pragmatically, of course, I probably couldn’t build the hamster wheel anyways… Do you find this valuable? |

I couldn't either, nor would I even try and do it, It'd waste valuable time and resources when they could be spent elsewhere...All that metal? Scrap armor for Technicals. Wiring? Various Techy-things. Time? Can never have enough Time. Skinjobs? Taken out of their Misery and making me feel like I did something good for all parties involved... Do you find this valuable? |

Zed energy? No thanks. Well, maybe if you burn them to boil water to create steam to turn a turbine to create electricity. But coal works better for that. Trying to use zombies just seems like a bad and dangerous idea.On the energy thing though, what about solar? I know it isn't perfect, but it works, and it doesn't explode. Also, wind power. Those big fan things don't explode either, at least I don't think so. And then there is always rigging a stationary bike to create power when you pedal. Maybe do the same for tredmills. Exercise and electricity. Do you find this valuable? |

I think my favorite idea for green energy is a solar/hydrogen plant. Have a solar farm to gather the energy, then use the extra power generated to harvest hydrogen from water(can't remeber the name of the process). Then use the hydrogen at night time. Yes I know hydrogen explodes. Meh As for wind power. I really want to see some windmills on Mount Washington. Always windy. 110 days out of the year the winds exceed hurricane force winds. This is an interesting thread, to be honest i'd probably avoid using zeds as unique as the idea is i'd worry about something going wrong, on a small scale mother nature gives us so much power that you wouldn't need to do anything too crazy.there is solar geothermal hydroelectric wind animal powered all of which are very practical and easy to set up. You would also have to consider the moans. If one is desperate enough to hook up a zed for power than they probably will not have the items necessary to adequately soundproof the room. Not only for safety, preventing against betraying your position further, but for your sanity.Wind and human generated power would be my preferred choices. Do you find this valuable? |

meh. biodiesel is the answer.when so much of our populous is dead and the apocalypse nearing an end... how much of our land that we used to devote to food crops can be adjusted to growing crops for biodiesel? alot until that time, i think that fuel will be suffient with so many dead, as long as you can secure a means to safely gather it with the undead roaming the streets Do you find this valuable? |

In response to biodiesel. Effective, yes, but why; a) would you want to give up valuble space to produce food crops, b) have to contend with synthesizing it, c) have to use an awefully loud engine to make it useful, potentially betraying your position.Wind energy is clean and quiet, and easy enough to repair if something goes wrong. A lot of it.....I mean A LOT.Not only the streets, but You'd have to watch out for the 'stalker' types of Skinnies though, they'd go hide in the cornfields and wait for the right moment to take a chunk outta you...[Yeah, I think some will be smart enough to hide out, wait and plan out their attack since they've seen to many of their brethren get blown to bits out in the open.] Do you find this valuable? |

"A lot of it.....I mean A LOT.so you're in favor of the "instinctual" zombies, huh? thats what i think too. they'd have the base instinct to kill, would be fast as humans "in the beginning" and capable of setting ambushes, much the same way a hunting cat does 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
