Real world meet and greet?
Oct 14 2008, 12:28 AM EDT
If everything works out, as in finding a location and things associated with the pre-requisites of the Base's construction, shouldn't the committed members meet each other in real life to see if they want to be around each other for any period of time? Where? Personally, I'd say a hotel near the proposed site or something... What do you guys 'n gals think? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

"I know Zombie Squad has a yearly rally…"Should we meet through them, or is there another way that we should do it? I mean, we should at the bare minimum meet at least once if the Base idea becomes a reality...I don't know about you guys, but I don't care if we meet in some busted down motel in country bobumpkin nowheres having some SPAM and water and sleeping in sleeping bags...At least we'd meet. I submit…That at least for the time being we piggyback of ZS. If the Base actually happens (insert sardonic laughter here), then PERHAPS we could invite them (they use a national park, IIRC, so private property gives significantly more flexibility; like owner’s permission to pack heat around). i like this idea. if andering's idea of having it in oregon works out, then i would definitly be there. and yes, i heard of zombie squad. they are a bunch of looneys in face paint. i say we have a quick greeting in a resteraunt in the area, then tour the area where our base is,(you have to know the territory) and we can talk in the car ride.

Im only 14 so unless this is in Denver this will exclude me and this is probably true for many other menbers we should meet in a place thats availble to the most menbers and then maybe open a webcam to the meeting.

Have the webcam meeting in a hotel room at a certain time or something as well as bring back photos of the site and of the surrounding area.... Do you find this valuable? |

As a member who actually lives in Oregon.. I severly disagree. As for Isolation.. I have no neighbors in 10 mile radius (although there is more than this in alot of other states) As for anything else? Oregon is covered in forests and mountains.. building a fort here would be nearly impossible without CONSTANT upkeep and living in it 24/7. As for the downsides.. It rains here 250+ days a year, very few places to actually build a fort, and among 1000 other things. Bonus? Almost no gun laws, plenty of wild life, a lot of isolation, and no sales tax... Woohoo. Back to the subject at hand.. A meet and greet sounds great. Nothing snazzy or expensive.. possibly lil nametags with our account names and a campsite for a few days... We're survivalist, not Diplomants.. if you cant handle a tent in a camp site then get off the wiki and go outside. Do you find this valuable? |

i vote we have four meets, one in each part of the states and if any of you 'uk'ers feel like meetin than your more than welcome to either come or have your own over "across the pond"

"im fine with it, but i have no budget for going anywhere anytime soon, so if that changes, sure."Agreed. While gas is getting cheaper, everything else hasnt yet. So, for the sake of economy, maybe we should start small and do meetings within state lines first and then later try for something bigger later. And I know some of us arent even old enough to drive yet. That way, we know the members in our area first, then we can branch from there. Not all of us have the time and/or money to take time from work and travel. Do you find this valuable? |
