When the power goes out

What are the few places that are going to have self sufficient power for an extended period of time? There are a few forward thinking people who have solar power or wind power set up for their own homes and places like schools and shopping malls will have emergency power but it will be finite. Police stations and fire stations will have power for a bit, but the places that I can see that will have power and be fortified well beyond what you could do in your own home....The local jail! It's gotta have power for the normal blackouts to run and keep the baddies locked up, it is made to keep people in and even keep them out, it is built in sections so even if one area is breached it can be sealed off. Let's face it nobody is going to be worried about keeping people locked up if "Z" day has a firm grasp around the human race's neck. In my area there are 2 that are not used as jails anymore but they are still maintained so they are still running power and water to the facility.

Failing to have an impregnable fortress of suburbia available I would be practicing my camping skills, even out in the backyard. Gas, oil and batteries are fine and will last for a bit, but as I mentioned before, they are a finite resource. Better read up on the pioneers and native people to find out how they did it for hundreds of years. The fear is what will happen when "Z" day comes? Who will over come who? That is the question. Will we be able to take back our civilization from the flesh eaters, of course we hope so, but I would advise all my fellow survivors to be prepared to live a basic type of life if we can't.
